Trump’s fossil fuel visions clash with market realities. Trump’s DOE named coal, oil, and gas as top priorities for unleashing “affordable, reliable and efficient energy”. The problem is that the market disagrees. Renewables outcompete fossil fuels on price, scalability and long-term demand growth.

    Nobody is going to produce a fossil fuel power plant in the US that they aren’t strictly required to. The vast majority of new capacity will be renewables, regardless of what the government wants.

    If the feds get in the way, the generating capacity simply won’t be built at all till administrations change.
