  1. Andrew Egger and Joe Perticone give their takes on the growing wave of House Republicans announcing their exits as the midterms approach. They break down why Nevada Rep. Mark Amodei and others are heading for the door, how Trump’s iron grip over Congress has made life miserable even for Freedom Caucus hardliners, and why the prospect of being in the minority is driving GOP members to run for the hills.

  2. Remember that they aren’t leaving because of principles. Their party is going to get slaughtered in the midterms so why put up with that? I am sure all of these former senators and congressmen have found nice cushy lobbiest jobs for themselves.

They’ll all go into lucrative jobs in the private sector and will be excused for enabling what’s happening. All of us will likely end up working for or buying things from a company they are a board member of. There will be no consequences and they know it.

  4. This is the most we can expect from politicians. When you can’t do the right thing then resign so others could.

  5. There’s also something like 20-21 Democrats leaving as well. A lot of work to do to fill all those seats.

These people enriched themselves and will get healthcare for life, while gutting regular Americans’ rights.

Elise Stefanik was going to both defend her seat and run for governor, then dropped out of both races.

I love this! Thirty Repub seats which no longer have an incumbent advantage in the 2026 elections.

It is time for a factional split with a small group holding the balance of power in order to vex Trump.

Because they are too weak to stand up to administration so they can repair what they broke.

I’m a little concerned politicians are not only start retiring with increasing frequency, but also quietly leaving the country because they know what’s coming.

  12. So … they’re 30 gutless Republican losers too scared to tell Trump to get fucked, and now they are running away. Not really surprised.

America has to fight hard to replace as many of them as possible with sensible Democrats that will fight for you. It feels like given recent state election outcomes from deep red areas turning blue, that the tide might be turning …

I saw this bulwark video and they were like they’re leaving because it’s not “fun” anymore and that pissed me off so much this job isn’t supposed to be fun it’s a civil position to govern things why the hell should we care if these people are having fun it’s a serious position with real consequences

This headline is designed to mislead you. Over 20 dems are also not running for re-election. Fuck these headlines, get out and vote

RINOs WOW that throw the country under the bus and then bail. They should own that shit. Pussies

  16. Ok naive here, but is this common? Does it happen often around midterms or is this super significant given our unique circumstances? Like what’s the normal amount of dropout

  17. I wonder if the GOP have a plan to attempt to replace them all with handpicked lackies that all miraculously win their elections.

  18. If they over 70, regardless of party, need to step aside. If over 80, should be forced out by the party. The boomers have had their time.
