I for one am extremely shocked that this played out exactly like Trickle Down Economics did.

I can’t believe Republicans would lie about how the changes they were making to the economy would favor the rich at the expense of the lower and middle class.

Who would have thought that was within their character. Who could have see this coming?

  2. it is somewhat hilarious that the GOP instituted a national sales tax and now working on a national ID.

edit: and dissolution of states rights.

  3. Great way to boost those cronies’ profits, huh?

    * Eliminate competition for your higher prices cronies’ products
    * Let those companies boost prices “due to increased demand” – cheap products no longer available

I wonder if this might not have been the plan all along… though I don’t find that convincingly plausible, considering Trump’s mental capacity.

  4. Welcome everyone to “no shit news”, Tom is out on assignment so I’ll be your anchor for the evening

  5. I don’t understand why this is constantly reported. Of course they are. That’s how tariffs fucking work. Are Americans that fucking stupid that they need to be reminded of this constantly?

Jesus Christ man, everybody in the goddamn world understands this.

  6. 90%? seriously what is the other 10% or is that just companies in the US losing out on money to try and not lose trade?

  7. Yes, it’s essentially a tax. Now, what is that money earmarked for? How has it been spent up until now? Also if you’re pulling in even more money why all the service cuts? With all the cuts from DOGE where are those savings, and what is that money earmarked for?

I ask Americans, with all this extra cash flowing to the gov how has that improved your everyday life?

The end user pays 100% of the tariffs! Otherwise, someone else is losing money. The line must go up!

  9. The President of the United States says prices are dropping because China is paying for the tariffs. Win/Win!

The fucking Stamp Act led to the American Revolution.

I hate having a president that couldn’t pass an elementary school history test if his life depended on it.

  11. How many times does “who actually pays for tariffs” need to be explained or confirmed? It hasn’t changed and it won’t change.

  12. Wow, it takes a group of economists to confirm this? I would have thought a school kid could have figured that shit out.

  13. Duh! Everyone I see this type of BS I have to wonder what idiots they take the public for being. Anyone even remotely involved in international shipping knows importers file a customs entry (a type of tax return) and pay the duty that is due. The importer then passes that cost, along with the cost of the goods and their profit on to their U.S. customer or consumer.

So some Fed having an epiphany is insulting and if true is concerning.

I don’t understand these news stories.
    “Scientist confirms water is wet.”
“Economist confirms if you spend all your money you’ll have less money.”

Nothing about tariffs is complicated or was up for debate. We’re talking about this as if it wasn’t one big lie from the start.

Every article should be “Trump administration still lying about who pays for tariffs. Americans pay tariffs. We know it, they know it, and you should know it.”

  15. They are wrong. Its 100% of the bill. And maybe more, because why not try to squeeze out a little bit more profit?

  16. Fun-Lengthiness-7493 on

Thank god we have the wizards of the NY Fed to point out that the dying imbecile has been wrong about everything.

  17. Honest question…why is it only 90%? My understanding was it should be 100% on Americans to pay. As some people exporting to the US agreeing to cover the tariffs in order to keep trade going?
