Trump is implicated in the Epstein files, that seems clear, and would’ve been the end of any presidency in American history. The issue here is we’ve a complicit majority in Congress, an administration full of enablers and sycophants, and an opposition party that lacks a vision and a spine. In the history of the rise of authoritarian leaders, these dynamics tend to be on display. Epstein isn’t going to take Trump down. Incompetence and in-fighting will.
But stories like “the president is involved in a cover-up of his participation in a pedophile ring involving members of his administration and the powerful elites” don’t seem to move the needle in 2026 America. What that says about America is interesting, and is why I don’t view MAGA as a political movement, but as a cult. This is post-reality, so hoping for reality to win the day is a bit naive. They don’t need information. They need de-programming. And leaders of cults always reveal their failings to their followers. Eventually.
