As if it wasn’t bad enough that Stephen’s show is about to be pulled off the air… why is CBS so desperate to appease this crabby, moronic dictator?

  2. CouchCorrespondent on

CBS has become a propaganda mechanism for the GOP.

Colbert is the last bit of “truthiness”.

  3. Competitive-Bike-277 on

I dropped CBS after they caved over the 60 minutes suit. I’m not going back so long as it’s owned by that fucking lizard Ellison. To see them cave to that nazi Carr is no surprise to me.

  4. (Not saying this is good thing) but maybe ya’ll can finally start to understand how third party members feel!

Especially seeing as third party exemptions are baked into the equal time rule! And this is just ONE of the ways information pathways are tightly controlled.

    https://firstamendment.mtsu.edu/article/equal-time-rule/

But what’s so damn equal about letting people hear from 2 different candidates funded by the same (evil) people?

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ctFtLJAds1w

And why are our candidates arrested when they show up to participate in “open” presidential debates?

  5. Pulling interviews of political adversaries to appease the sitting President?

Totally cool and normal. And totally not at all like North Korea or Iran.

    We are so fucked.

  6. I do hope that Mr Colbert when he chooses to, finds a path back into TV media and is able to continue his fight for your (I’m UK) democracy. Alongside Jimmy Kimmel the chat show hosts have stood clear and strong in denouncing Trump and his reprehensible and cruel attack on a leading democracy.

Now the leopards are feasting amongst MAGA perhaps their end is nigh. 🤞🏻

  7. Here’s the scoop kids:

David Ellison [wants access](https://bpr.studentorg.berkeley.edu/2025/12/03/how-the-ellison-empire-is-killing-americas-democratic-media/) to the doors that the executive branch holds the keys to. Get familiar[Unitary Executive Theory](https://constitutionus.com/democracy/unitary-executive-theory/)

David Ellison appoints/crowns/ brings in [Bari Weiss](https://www.democracynow.org/2025/10/8/bari_weiss_david_klion_cbs_paramount) (look up this conservative Queen)

Bari Weiss at the head of CBC turns CBS into a tool of fascist state media.

  8. It’s a lie that FCC leadership wants equal time for conservative candidates. It wants NO candidates.

Equal time, if enforced, means they’re obligated to invite the opposing candidate to appear. But conservative candidates do not want to go on Colbert. Because they’re largely jackasses and the last thing they actually want is to end up making even bigger jackasses of themselves on TV.

  9. I’m hoping it will backfire on Carr create a bit of a Streisand effect and draw more attention to the interview. It’s well worth a watch on YouTube.

  10. I look forward to Colbert soon reaching a much broader audience than he ever could with the Late Show shackles on. Network TV is dead as dirt.

Censored free speech and having state run and controlled media propaganda machines like fox news. This is what MAGA wants.

  12. I *never* would’ve watched this interview had the FCC, Carr and CBS tried to stop me. Please, for the love of God, VOTE IN NOVEMBER.

  13. When media companies decline to exercise their Constitutionally protected free speech in fear of backlash from the government you are no longer anticipating the rise and/or threat of a fascist state, you are IN one.

    This is by design.

This threat by a government agency is intended to create a slippery slope in which speech is voluntarily withheld or otherwise stifled resulting in the elimination of dissent.

It starts out small, and it eventually snowballs to the point the populace is only consuming state approved content.

    This is dangerous.

This cannot happen in a free state.

  14. Embarrassed_Fee6951 on

I would love if the republican candidate got equal interview time with Colbert. Please let Colbert interview Paxton

  15. FCC says you must give all opponents the same amount time.

    REDDIT: CBS collaborating with TRUMP!

  16. The Republican government is using its power to silence opposition candidates? The Trump administration may not check all of the boxes to justify calling them 100% fascist, but they do check way too many.

  17. Rare-Butterscotch655 on

It is not that I agree with pulling an interview It is they are usually one sided If there is an interview let’s hear both sides and let us make our own decision. Colbert is pro left

  18. This is censorship from the snowflakes who called everyone snowflakes. If you look back, they accuse others of what they are.

  19. Positive-Ring-5172 on

We badly need a law to force corporations to abide by the same limitations the government must abide by, especially regarding free speech.

It’s a shame that all of these rich dudes bought news media companies so that they could immediately obliterate their brand, but information is everywhere now. People who seek authenticity and objective fact based reporting will find it eventually.

  21. Why is this guy getting so much attention is he being boosted because he is running against Jasmine Crockett and establishment and big money dems prefer him I have no idea here just curious?

  22. Can we start stop calling it the “administration”? I feel “regime” is more fitting these days.

  23. The Fairness Doctrine was removed from federal law in 2011 after being effectively null and void since the 80s under Reagan. Now the new FCC guy gets to claim he’s looking in to reestablishing it to give cover for CBS turning into state run media.

Has he listened to talk radio? That seems completely one-sided.

This was a stress test for the new media ecosystem, and CBS just folded.

    Key Points:
    – Daniel Suhr (Federalist Soc/Leonard Leo funded) filed a bogus complaint.
-Brendan Carr (FCC Chair/Project 2025 author) used it to threaten CBS’s license.
    – CBS Leadership (under the new Skydance/Bari Weiss influence) killed the segment to avoid an audit.
    – James Talarico was the target because a Christian Democrat is an existential threat to the donors funding Suhr’s paycheck.

It’s not censorship. It’s privatized lawfare.

Here is the map of the shadows:
    1. The “Concerned Citizen” is a Mercenary

The complaint came from the Center for American Rights. Sounds nice, right? It’s run by Daniel Suhr, a former Scott Walker aide and Federalist Society operative. Follow the Money: His group just saw a 136% revenue spike, including $100k from the Searle Freedom Trust and $25k from The 85 Fund (aka Leonard Leo’s dark money death star). The Grift: Suhr isn’t a viewer; he’s a paid operative using the courts to make booking progressives legally expensive.

    2. The Inside-Outside Game (The “Pincer”) Suhr isn’t working alone. He’s providing the ammo for Brendan Carr, the Trump-appointed FCC Chairman.

The Receipt: Carr and Suhr were photographed having coffee in DC hours before Suhr went on a media tour denying they coordinate.

The Playbook: Carr wrote the Project 2025 chapter on the FCC, explicitly calling for using agency power to punish “biased” media. Suhr files the complaint -> Carr holds up the complaint as “proof” of public outcry -> Networks panic.

    3. The Bari Weiss Factor
Here is the kicker: Bari Weiss (yes, the “Free Speech” warrior) is now part of the leadership structure at CBS/Skydance.

The Betrayal: Under the old CBS, lawyers might have fought a frivolous FCC claim. Under the new regime? They capitulated immediately. The “University of Austin” crowd isn’t here to protect speech; they are here to curate it.

like Paxton would ever submit to an interview by Colbert, Paxton would not like the questions he would get

  26. MirthandMystery on

Silencing the media and talk show hosts/ comics under its umbrella network is attacking one of the pillars Democracy needs to be supported by.

Free speech advocates on the right are too quiet about this relentless targeting.
