Trump’s election bill tops 50 Senate votes, but Democrats could still block it | The SAVE America Act has passed the House and enjoys President Trump’s support, meaning the Senate’s 60-vote threshold is the only thing standing in the way of it becoming law.

Disgusting, un-American, un-Constitutional.
MAGA is an enemy of the USA
Anyone voting for this is enabling a nationwide poll tax in violation of the Constitution. They are also enabling mass voter suppression in a blatant attempt to remain in power.
If you want to require a photo ID to vote, then you better make it free and easy to obtain. It also must be obtainable without having to purchase other documents.
I love they keep taunting that 83% of american support ID laws to justify their horrible bill.
They can never say 83% of americans support the save act bill

>Mike Rounds says Republicans just want to make you show your document with a yellow star in order to vote
>[clip of Senator Rounds giving a quote to that effect on Fox Business]
I sure would hate to be the stupid asshole that pisses off nearly 50 million women. I can barely survive pissing my wife off.
Even if passed, wouldn’t it face immediate lawsuits?
And just now the Trump regime took away the ability to get a passport through your non-profit public library.
I’d like to know whose ass they pulled the 83% want this fro9m. Just more gaslighting
Unsurprisingly Susan Collins is the deciding vote and contributed to back trump no matter what.
You all up in Maine need to go out and vote, and if your preferred Democrat candidate does not win the primary you need to still go out and vote in the fall. Her seat is one of the most at risk, if Democrats can get the majority in both chambers of Congress that gives them power and leverage.
Please don’t fucking pass this. If any of you people have a heart, don’t pass this.
A curse on any Democrat that will vote to allow the Republicans to control who can vote.
Shouldn’t have to state that but we just don’t know any more.
Could still block it?? Like, there’s reason to believe they’re not?!
So it will get filibustered then….
Susan Collins likes term limits: [https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ZMbovyYeV-E](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ZMbovyYeV-E)
One thing for sure is that Fetterman is going to fuck us.
> She [Susan Collins] said the revisions to the bill resolve her earlier concerns by easing the proof-of-citizenship rule for casting a ballot, instead requiring states to see it only when registering a person to vote.
And what about when they decide to ‘OOPS! accidentally’ remove all women, independents and democrats right before an election when it would be impossible to jump through the hoops necessary to reregister?
This is why the dems wanting to get rid of the filibuster was a horrible idea.
Call. Your. Senators.
Let’s not forget Republicans’ use of the filibuster in 2021 to shut down the For the People Act.

Doesn’t this Voter ID effect republican voters as much if not more than democrat voters.
A few statistics when it was applied to the UK in 2024:
https://constitution-unit.com/2025/02/21/how-have-voter-id-requirements-affected-british-elections/
My passport expires on nov 16. 😭 I’ll be at the polls with bells on
Unless Republicans flip 10 Democrats (they won’t) or get rid of the filibuster (highly unlikely), this won’t pass… and if somehow it gets passed, it will get bogged down in the courts. The Constitution literally says that states are responsible for administering elections…
Thank goodness for that “filibuster”. It matters when you’re the minority
Susan Collins last “fuck you” to democracy and women voters. Cannot wait until the people of Maine vote this feckless bootlicker out on her ass.
I’m down to support voter ID as soon as republicans show us the instances of voter fraud warrant making it harder for millions to vote.
What’s the latest on Thune and the filibuster? He’s still at a ‘no’ on nuking it?
(Yes I know how little a republican’s word means but still curious)
Trump: “In four years, You don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good. You’re not going to have to vote.”
The State Department also made it so that certain libraries can no longer process passports. So, at the same time that they are requiring most people to have a passport or bring their birth certificates, they’re making one of the two options less accessible.
Republicans only spend time destroying things instead of improving or compromising to work toward the greater good. It’s fucking exhausting and embarrassing.
The State Dept. recently ordered nonprofit libraries to stop processing passport applications. They will do anything they can to stop people from voting. I keep wondering what obstacles they will have at voting sites on election day or how they may tamper with the machines.
I hope this absolutely nukes in their face, I cant imagine how this wont fuck over rural Americans the hardest.
Concerned Susan Collins to the rescue.
Block this voter suppression garbage! The only way they can win is cheating.
Won’t republican women be more affected since they always take their husbands last name and are less likely to have a passport since their worldview depends on never leaving their county?
Literally just walk into a voting hall in Australia and they get the little ruler out and cross your name off a paper list. This is with compulsory voting! I feel like the Republicans overestimate how many people want to stand in lines all day just to cast an extra couple of votes.
NBC continuing to sanewash. “Could” because it makes a story, can’t be refuted/disputed, and both sides-es hard enough to ensure it won’t get them sued by Trump.
U.S. news media continues to churn out whatever slop they can to drive engagement, ads, clicks, etc. Everything except actually just reporting plain facts, because that doesn’t make them enough money. Disgusting.
What happens if the Senate nukes the filibuster for this bill? After all Dems said SCOTUS would NEVER overturn Roe v Wade.
Susan Collins seems very concerned.
Maybe the Americans that want Trump out should start voting this time
Fucking fetterman
I’ve said it before. They will nuke the filibuster in order to pass the powers enabling act, ensuring the Dems will never get the opportunity to pass bills with a simple majority.
No one hates the US and freedom more than conservatives.
Enter Chuck “We passed this so we could get more funding for Israel!” Schumer, here to expedite authoritarianism.
Honestly, if Republicans pass this garbage, which they never will unless they nuke the filibuster, they are morons. Kansas tried this back in 2016 and they reversed it because 31,000 Kansans couldn’t vote.
Why does Maine keep reelecting Susan? She’s such a spineless faux moderate who has been the deciding vote on several terrible things. They’ve got a democrat as Governor and two Dem house reps, but they refuse to kick Susan to the curb.
How the hell can a bill designed to rig elections, the most important part of democracy, can pass with just a majority if one party controls the government, but something like an impeachment requires 2/3 of the votes?
Any Democrat that supports this should obviously be primaried.
My entire life I have only ever known the Republican Party — *and only the Republican Party* — to actively and repeatedly attempt to complicate and suppress voting. Every time they gain power they seek to disenfranchise and discourage democracy. This alone is reason enough to never vote for or support them in any way.
