President Donald Trump recounted a list of accomplishments in the first year of his second term Tuesday night, including millions of fewer Americans on a food-assistance program that he cut.
During the State of the Union address, he pointed to the stock market at record highs, investment commitments from around the world, the creation of tens of thousands of construction jobs, and increased domestic oil production.
“We cut a record number of job-killing regulations, and in one year we have lifted 2.4 million Americans, a record, off of food stamps,” Trump added. “And for all of these reasons I say tonight members of Congress the state of our union is strong.”
Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act slashed $186 billion from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, previously known as food stamps, over 10 years.
That amounts to a 20% reduction, marking the largest cut in the program’s history, according to the Harvard Kennedy School.

Yah this is a crazy statement. He doesn’t say he’s created an environment where they no longer need these benefits. Just that people who couldn’t afford food can now no longer get it. It’s insane.
People don’t seem to understand that the point of helping our under-privileged is to get them back on their feet.
If society refuses to help, or actively keeps people down, then everyone pays the price as desperate people fight just to survive. If we help people up, they can be productive citizens again and we all benefit.
As a 3 time trump voter I say I’m sick of his shit. I used to watch most of his press conferences but now I honestly can’t even stand to listen to this prick talk. He’s a fuckin broken record, lost all of his mojo during the last campaign. He’s at a minimum obstructing justice for the Epstein client list and at worst took part in which case he needs to face prosecution to the fullest extent of the law. That’s great the stock market is at an all time high so is the fuckin cost of living. Gas hasn’t come down, I feel like I’m getting dry jacked by a calloused hand every time I go shopping. I make more money now than I ever have in my entire life and I still feel like I can’t get ahead. Ridiculous.

It’s the usual Republican statements and not a surprise why the death rate in red states, particularly states with no large blue cores carrying it, consistently have some of the worst per capita death rates in the country.

Kicks 3 million people off of food stamps. “I helped Americans get off of welfare!” -Trump I know a few families effected by those cuts. One family lost $350 a month in SNAP. There was no job pay increase, bonus or anything that changed on their employment. Only that they were notified about being kicked off of SNAP.
Their Christmas was mostly all donated gifts because their food budget took a sudden shift in their monthly income.

I tried to listen to it but couldn’t get past the first 30 minutes of the over the top chanting and cheering by sycophants and the self adulation by Trump. So many lies told. . . The economy is in a golden age….for who but the already rich? The world respects us ….. Who, but those scared of us? The amount of fentanyl coming into the US was reduced by 56%…. Where are those numbers coming from? Ughhhh…..

Must be so hard to work 20 hours a week. I committed to myself working longer than that, go to school, graduate and start a career. And I never benefited from SNAP.
