  1. That’s some Handmaid’s Tale shit going down. They could easily have issued new ones, even if they were misgendered on there that would at least meet their misgendering standards. Instead they revoke with no mechanisms! Deliberate cruelty.

    > “Please note that the Legislature did not include a grace period for updating credentials. That means that once the law is officially enacted, your current credentials will be invalid immediately, and you may be subject to additional penalties if you are operating a vehicle without a valid credential,” read letters mailed by the Kansas Department of Revenue’s vehicles division.

    > “Upon surrendering the credential, you will be issued a new credential reflecting the gender identification consistent with statutory requirements,” it continues. “If you have any questions regarding procedures for obtaining a legally compliant credential, please contact (KDOV) or visit your local driver licensing office.”

This is also what Gavin Newsome gets you, btw.

He thinks we should drop the issue and let the republicans have this one.

  3. Maybe California can do the same to registered Republicans as they are protecting pedos and rapists.

  4. For sure this is more important then the cost of housing the price of food or voter suppression.

Yes being unnecessarily cruel to Trans people is the most necessary part of American life today. Oh wait I forgot the cruelty is the point.

  5. Stupid question or three:

    – What if the sex assigned at birth is wrong becasue the form was filled out wrong/typo?

    – What if the person in genetically male (XY) but suffers from Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome and thus exteriorally appears female?

    – What if the person was born intersex?

Don’t they have a Democratic Governor? Isn’t she trying to help protect transgender individuals? 😬🤷‍♂️

So all of this talk about how obtaining an ID is so easy and simple, yet Republicans want to add more steps for a subset of the population to obtain a valid ID.

This isn’t just another example of Republican hypocrisy, it’s full on discrimination.

And they wonder why some of us are skeptical of voter ID laws, which exclude most basic forms of ID to begin with, and just act as a smokescreen for imposing widespread voting restraints and more restrictions.

Keep in mind that when Republicans argue that voter ID is backed by bipartisan and majority support, they’re not talking about support for narrower requirements, nor are they talking about different measures like those targeting mail in balloting and early voting, and measures among others that are designed to make the voting process more challenging or meticulous, especially for those located in urban areas and cities.

  8. How is this not nazism?

How is this not a further attempt of genocide?

Are Kansas citizens happy about their taxes being used for this?

This is such a weird fucking hill to die on for republicans. Like there’s literally no point to this besides cruelty

They’re trying to get trans people fired from their jobs because they cannot get to work on time, jailed or incarcerated if attempting to keep driving or having to use their licenses as identification. The people who are doing this are scum and I wish them the worse. Shock the system, fuck Kansas.

  11. Driving without a license or with invalid ID? 6 months in jail, conveniently housed with the population of sex assigned at birth. This is nazi shit according to plan

  12. huh. hey Republicans defending voter ID laws as if it’s simple and easy, maybe this is why people are skeptical of them.

  13. Before I get all bent out of shape over how fucked this is, is there any data around how many trans people with a car live in Kansas?
