Nurul Amin Shah Alam was found dead after Border Patrol abandoned him miles from home in the middle of winter in Buffalo, New York.
FuzzyBrilliant2026 on
He was arrested in his neighborhood for using a shower rod as a cane and when he was approached by police, since he is blind and speaks limited English, he swung at them.
They released him without calling his lawyer or family… dropped him off MILES from his home in a part of the city that is not well plowed and the sidewalks are treacherous and it is currently 10 degrees out.
He lived in a part of Buffalo where immigrants from Myanmar settled less than two miles from my house and I drive past them all the time. They are good neighbors and good people. This is just sickening.

> He got lost and found his way to a porch of another person’s home as she was letting her dog out. The woman called police, and Shah Alam, having poor vision and unable to speak English, didn’t respond to police commands to drop the rods.
> A scuffle ensued, and his lawyer, Benjamin Macaluso, said that police then arrested him, but not before Shah Alam was beaten and tased. He was then charged with numerous offenses, including assault, trespassing, and possession of a weapon.
Shitty policing too.. not a big surprise.
> Since an immigration detainer had been placed on him, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office contacted Border Patrol before his release, and agents picked him up that day.
Police beat and tazed a blind, lost man, charged him for their troubles, then handed him off to BP who killed him.

This country is sick. It has been infected with the diseases of apathy, greed and brutality against our fellow man. We have allowed it to happen because we are complacent. But one day we too will become the victims to this inhumane illness unless we act now to stop it. We must protest, we must lawfully observe the actions of ICE and border patrol agents and police officers and make sure their activities do not go unnoticed. Everyone in this country must be made to understand what is being done in their name.

Watch certain news networks try to spin this by tomorrow morning as “heroic border patrol agents defend nation from dangerous foreign invader.” the lack of basic human empathy in our system isn’t a bug, it’s a feature tbh.

The border patrol murdered a blind man.
This was targeted and deliberate cruelty with intent to kill or at least accepting the victims death.

So the ICE/CBP spokes-person said the ride after release was given as a “courtesy” since apparently they often just release people directly out of the station… (Frankly feel that LE agencies should be required to provide the option for transportation home after release.)
What the hell made them think it was best to drop them off near their home as opposed to directly at their home?! It would still be a dick move if an able-bodied person was released several miles away from their home after receiving a ride; at that point you might as well not half-ass it and actually see that they make it home.
For reference on how lack of vision can affect people, I recall hearing stories of people being found dead relatively close to cave enterances simply due to their light sources running out of power.

In Canada, that’s a well known tactic of racist police. They will pick up an indigenous person and rather than charge or arrest them drop them off outside of town in frigid conditions. It’s sometime called a “midnight ride.” I doubt this is the only such case with ICE or in Buffalo with other LEO’s.

Someone needs to go to jail over that. A disabled refugee that doesn’t speak English here legally on amnesty- let that sink in and tell me how that wasn’t homicide if not murder.

If i forced a blind man into my car, drove him miles away, then dropped him off in freezing weather, and he froze to death, I would be found guilty of murder. Therefore, the border patrol committed murder.

God, his story is enough to make anyone cry. Imagine trying to navigate a strange country after surving a genocide. You arrive and finally feel like even though you left everything behind that you loved (familiar sounds, foods, language, friends), you might finally be physically safe. Then, not knowing the language and being blind and in poor health, the police of that country respond by beating, tasing, and imprisoning you before later abandoning you in the cold to die. It’s just so unbelievably cruel.
adamsoutofideas on
Can you imagine how terrifying that would have been? Youre blind, can’t express yourself, probably being treated roughly, no idea where you’re going, then dropped off in the cold, no idea where you are and can’t get anyone’s help… probably afraid your kidnappers are still watching.
