  1. Elon Musk specifically rewrote Twitter’s algorithms to launch disinformation campaigns. Musk made it so that people would always see more far-right content, and he spends time on Twitter (still not calling it X) spreading false information.

  2. Minutes after Donald Trump announced that the US and Israeli governments had launched a “major combat operation” against Iran in the early hours of Saturday morning, disinformation about the attack and Tehran’s response flooded X.

WIRED has reviewed hundreds of posts on X, some of which have racked up millions of views, that promote misleading claims about the locations and scale of the attack.

Elon Musk’s social media platform is a verifiable mess: In some cases, alleged video footage of the attack shared in posts on X are actually months or years old. In several posts, video footage of apparent attacks have been attributed to incorrect locations. A number of images shared on X appear to be altered or generated with AI. Other posts attempt to pass off video game footage as scenes from the conflict.

X was drowning in misinformation before the attack on Iran too. It’s the entire point of X.

  5. r/interesting and r/worldnews and other subs are also drowning in disinformation regarding this.

The conservative echo bubble is probably even worse

  6. The amount of old videos being posted as current strike vids on X is staggering, one of the nations fighting is trying to muddy the waters for battle assessment as much as possible…..The Saudi’s spend near $1mil a month on twitter ads.

X is Drowning in Disinformation Following Elon Musk’s Takeover of Twitter.

    There, I fixed the headline.

  8. If you think the disinformation on X is bad, turn on any U.S. news network. Doesn’t matter which.

  9. The company run by a Nazi oligarch is complicit in spreading misinformation about world events? Who would have thought?

Why anyone with a shred of integrity continues to use musk’s platform is beyond me.

  10. Remember back in the day when the Internet was the Information Superhighway? Now I guess it runs parallel to the Disinformation Superhighway

The only reason Elon Musk bought Twitter was to turn it to his own right wing propoganda machine. Same with Ellison and Warner Brothers.

I actually turned it back on just today (after 2 years away) just to take a look and after 20 minutes I literally couldn’t tell what was real anymore. It really is a zone of imagination, fallacy, lies, AI, and . .. . fuck. I uninstalled the app again.

Wait until the media finds out about all the child porn on twitter(x)… Elon is a pedophile first and foremost.

  14. I hadn’t used Twitter in years. I went to go look at what was in the new and trending feeds when the cartels started burning Mexico and the account of disinformation was magnitudes higher than anything I saw there before.

That’s the main point of X, to sew disinformation. Anyone using that site for news should just drink a bottle of bleach.
