Every one can tell you this. Only MAGA keeps repeating what works for them to keep going.

The asymetric cost is insane. They’re shooting down $20,000 drones with $4,000,000 patriot missiles.

They’ve gone through 5 years of tomahawks in one week.

Meanwhile, China is just over there building themselves up and waiting to take over whoever loses the war

  3. ranchoparksteve on

Yet nobody acts to shorten the war. Everybody is waiting for Trump to discover some self-restraint, which is a lost cause.

    Excerpt:

    > That suggests the Pentagon is allocating funding and resources f**or at least the next seven months**, and not the four- or five-week timeline that Trump provided over the weekend.
    >
    > It also means the operation is likely to continue until uncomfortably close to the midterms, despite Republican insiders warning the war will be a “f—ing nightmare” if it’s not over quickly.

Last time I heard this, it lasted 20 years and ran up a deficit that kids not born yet will paying until they die. (Unless we hit a tipping point where we can’t pay it, and that’s a can of worms I hope is never opened.)

  5. Last time an administration started a middle east conflict, the U.S. was stuck there for 20 years. I have no reason to believe this will be any different.

  6. > “When you’re at war, that is 75 percent of your time,” a Republican insider told Politico’s Playbook on Wednesday. “It already is a nightmare, because you’ve got the MAGA coalition just tearing at the seams. Anything in a game subtraction right now is a f—ing disastrous.”

Whoa there! Are you telling me that MAGA didn’t know their vote was for wars in several different countries, high gas prices and dead soldiers? I guess maybe next time they’ll learn. Right? Right!?

  7. Ask yourself who this helps; who benefits from having military armaments from the US expended over pointless military action?

  8. DarrenEdwardsVR on

He’s going to lose interest. There will be boots on the ground to secure oil and ports.

Iran is without water already. There is going to be mass starvation. There will be an incident, an image, of mass death that will be linked to this. The world will have this as America’s brand image and no amount of beautiful gold curtains with alter it.

Fucking nightmare is putting it so incredibly lightly.

The oil reserves of (friendly) nations dependent on oil from the strait are less than a year.

The countries in the gulf region will go without food and water even sooner.

The global economy will begin to collapse proportionally to the harm done to the gulf countries.

The US is now trapped in a scenario that will end in some combination of domestic terror attack(s), sunken aircraft carrier, nuclear strike, and putting boots on the ground in a land war that will possibly destroy America.

Think draft, civil war, and the Trump regime happily presiding for the duration.

As others have pointed out, the cost differential is heavily against us and time is not on our side in this even a little.

He withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) at Netanyahu’s request, and now started a war, also at Netanyahu’s request. This has been an Israeli wet dream for forever, and Netanyahu found the perfect patsy, a narcissistic idiot with a closet full of skeletons and a big pot of money.

**Start a war, then build a narrative.**

$4 gas in November could help deliver the Senate to Dems. Right now it’s a longshot, but every terrible decision Trump makes gives me more hope and he makes terrible decisions every day.

  12. FiscalCliffClavin on

This is so stupid. Not only have we taken out the top of their leadership in Tehran but now there’s decentralized, but we’re still attacking Tehran. Not only that but we’ve got no defense against drones. This doesn’t even take any consideration the fact that they control all of the oil going in and out of the Middle East. This is beyond stupid. Oh, and we also don’t have a reason. A reason that he’ll admit anyway. First, they say no boots on the ground but clearly that’s the plan. Do you want your loved ones to die for this freaking maniac?

  13. popejohnsmith on

Life under MAGA is a continuous assault on sanity itself.

MAGA must go. Epstein is key. Get on with it.

  14. dogoodsilence1 on

Yea no shit. Wars are not simple and short wars do not transfer enough wealth to the billionaires who control the contracts of war. War is a racket for billionaires

  15. I keep thinking, “Do you want another 9/11? Because this is how you get another 9/11.”

  16. We can afford this?? which gives us citizens who are paying for all of this absolutely nothing in return.

**Meanwhile I can’t afford to go to the dentist even with insurance.**

Even seven months is an underestimate. Regardless of what they say they want, they’re trying to achieve Iraq-style change in a country more than twice as big as Iraq, and a lot more capable of defending itself.

GWB declared “Mission Accomplished” six weeks into his… *eight year long* quagmire.

Eight years. At almost a billion dollars a day.

If we’re doing the same thing again and expecting a different result, I don’t know what to say to that. And Iran is bigger and stronger; if anything it will be harder. Anyone saying this will be quick and easy is either lying or woefully misinformed.

  18. runfastgodspeed on

There’s alway a “leaked republican” but then a vote happens and it’s 52-48

  19. Buttermilk-Waffles on

Well Republican insiders, this is why you don’t elect a fucking decrepit madman as your president, hope this helps.

  20. Republicans are apparently more afraid of Trump than losing the midterms because they are just letting him do anything he wants. They could stop him today if they wanted to but they don’t and they won’t. That whole party needs to go away forever. We should declare them as a domestic terrorist organization, along with the Heritage Foundation, Federalist Society, AIPAC, and all the other evil billionaire donor organizations, and then use that to justify immediately arresting them all and send them to Gitmo for treason, not in the US court system to be pardoned. Of course, declaring the Federalist Society as terrorists green blights removing every single judge that was a part of ti so bye bye most conservative judges just like that.

See this is the kind of deviousness we need from the democratic party right now because republicans imo do not deserve to live free after these last 12 years. They showed us who they are. Enemies to America who intend to pull a coup. Why are we letting them carry on? Makes no sense. I will only vote for dems with this energy. Its not enough to fix our problems anymore because we cannot fix anything so long as republicans still exist in power. They will block and sabotage like they always do. No one likes to state the obvious but the truth is the only path forward for the US is the end the republican party. How many crimes do they need to commit before we finally put them all in jail?

  21. They are 100% going to drop a nuclear weapon. When you read about how god choose the day of attack and how they feel this is a war for god the use of a nuclear weapon is almost certain. I hope to his I’m wrong but the people in power are so unhinged and there are no generals with common sense left

  22. I never want to hear another thing from republicans about democrats ever again. Though I’m sure if one is allowed to be elected again all of this will be immediately forgotten.

  23. SedativeComet on

Behind closed doors maybe but they just blocked a measure to rein in war powers. So clearly they don’t care that much

  24. codguy231998409489 on

They are going to run it until November midterms and then declare results are invalid when Republican lose.

  25. mtn_doo_codebrown on

Not a single shot was fired by our enemies. Yet, our country is falling apart significantly. It’s all because of one rotten, corrupt, selfish man.

The white house is partially destroyed and laying in rubble, we are spending over $1B a day in a senseless war, our soldiers are dying for Israel, gas prices are going to be crazy, businesses and agriculture are fuct because of tariffs, people are paying higher prices because of those tariffs (pretty much extra taxes), billionaires are paying less taxes, we’ve lost significant civil rights, free speech, due process, freedom of the press, we have a gestapo in ice who is intimidating and killing citizens, the integrity of elections is compromised, we are falling out with our allies, and we have lost our dignity re the epstine files and tramp’s general buffoonery.

  26. To-Far-Away-Times on

    Gas prices are surging.

    The economy is shit.

Consumers paid an illegal tariff that is getting refunded to business owners.

We instigated yet another middle eastern war.

Our president is a pedophile and is suppressing evidence of other pedophiles.

    Are we great yet?

  27. No shit.

Anybody with a basic understanding of how the Iranian culture and government works knew this was going to happen. It is a culture of resistance, especially when you are carpet bombing the place.

Honestly, I think this is all an attempt to get another refugee wave into the EU and destabilize the centrist governments there. The only goal this admin has is 1) staying in power 2) spreading putinism across the globe (I would say Trumpism but he is using somebody else’s playbook.)

  28. ResponsibleAd2404 on

Does anyone think Trump actually stopped and thought what this would look like in a year?

Btw, what is going on in Venezuela? Who is leading it? Is all of the money from oil sells still going to an offshore bank account controlled by Trump? How is this not a major news story? What happened to the previous leader and his wife, where are they?

  29. They are right to call it a nightmare: Iran is *twice* the size/population of Iraq, and the regime has had decades to build/reinforce its military infrastructure and chains of command.

  30. If they stretch it to the Midterms… Watch them orchestrate a fake attack on US soil or some other B.S. for the rubes.
