They’re losing super badly without a goal in mind so they’re launching non nuke test missiles and putting out these news articles to send the message that they’ll do it. The second is Trump really wants to do it and is being advised that it needs some propaganda so the shock of the US launching another nuke this time in a war of aggression started by them isn’t so shocking. According to reports, Israel has informed the US that their interceptors are running critically low and Hezbollah still has a massive stock pile of missiles. If Israel is running out, they are about to get absolutely pummeled.
So there’s two options: Find some kind of off ramp and try to end the war, or keep going up the escalation ladder which, at this point, would probably reach the nuclear option pretty quickly.

Israel doesn’t need nuclear weapons. It’s won every war without them. If the Israelis use nuclear weapons in Iran, it will mean the end of Israel. And it won’t come through violence. The Jewish people will dismantle the failed state of Israel because the Far Right Israeli government has become an existential threat to the Jewish people.
