    The media is so compromised.

This bill isn’t about voter ID. It’s to block millions of Americans from voting by forcing them to update their documents right before the midterms.

  2. Stillwater215 on

It’s not going to pass, but Trump will use its defeat as “evidence” that the midterms were corrupted by “illegals voting.” And he’ll use that narrative to challenge results everywhere when the GOP loses.

  3. isekai_cheese on

proof that GOP knows they’ll lose so have to manipulate the whole system for voter suppression.

  4. CT_Phipps-Author on

Trump knows that they’re going to lose power and is trying to destroy democracy.

    So…Tuesday.

What’s the likelihood of this passing? I know Thune was very against this but that was a few weeks ago

  6. Notice how the corporate media frames the headline. Trying to carry the water for the GOP.

Democrats say nothing. “Well, we’ll just hide over in the corner, we don’t want to get anyone upset. Let’s ask our consultants to do a focus group!”

  7. FaultOutside2449 on

John Thune has repeatedly told this orange toddler that they don’t have the votes in the senate to break through the filibuster. The GOP at least their more moderate leadership, are well aware that they are handing towards one of the most lopsided midterm defeats in recent years. They want to be seen as actually doing something about affordability and the oil crisis and yet Trump has showcased a complete and utter disinterest in any of that. This is why you don’t center your party identity around one dude.

Reminder to use your 2nd amendment right and legally purchase a gun. You can get one for a few hundred bucks.

  9. Fight this bill, they want less people to vote. And stay in power. Trump hates the voters and loves the billionaires

  10. grabbingthunder on

Why does the media write articles with such neutral, cowardly headlines? “Trump raises eyebrows as he kills group of orphans with an incinerator after using the head of puppy as baseball.”

  11. Its_Don_Quixote on

It’s not a Voter ID Bill – it’s a Jim Crow Poll Tax meant to keep women and minorities from being able to Vote.

Anyone who’s changed their name for any reason, or who hasn’t but does not have access to their original Birth Certificate, will be forced to shell out $130 for a passport.

Of course, this Voter Suppression Law will 100% be selectively enforced, since the child rapist knows his party is cooked in a free and fair election.

  12. NovelDraft5175 on

The republican party is unable to govern, guilty of not doing oversight on the obvious corruption going on in this administration.

Rubber stamping all the policies that have devastated our country

    Allowing international terrorism

And the best thing you could come up with is a bill that makes it harder to vote in a election year, that in itself is corrupt!

Never has been more obvious republicans can’t govern

  13. Radically-Peaceful on

This pole tax bill will keep about 10% voters from voting, most of them poor.

  14. Kind_Relative812 on

Try to look up “percentage of Americans that support the Save Act”. I have tried multiple ways of entering it in different ways. Every headline from our government website to major media sites, it’s all the same….”80% of Americans support the save act”. I cannot believe that 80% of Americans support this.

  15. Passport price for first time applicants: $165.
    Needed docs:
-Valid id (DL or equivalent) (photocopy),
    -Birth certificate ,
    -Photo ,
    -Social security number.

$165 is groceries, gas, phone bill, whatever needed to stay alive. Some folks are absolutely not going to be able to afford it.
On top of that, most people don’t have a home printer, and even fewer will have one that scans/copies, so it will be $ to FedEx , UPS, or some other store to get the copies you need. This is a poll tax under a different facade, masquerading as a way to prevent illegal voting…which rarely happens.
(Look it up. The number of “fake voters” is like a millionaire finding some nickels in their couch cushions: unimportant at best.)

  16. This is rather stupid. When Texas passed Paul Weyrich’s ALEC written “exact match” requirement legislation in 2011, which required Tx DL already, they had to stop enforcing it because too many of their voters got caught, including Abbott.

Of course they’d already made it more difficult for poor people to get driver’s licenses, closed DPS locations, no mail options for new people, difficult for many to get birth certificates.

Will this blow up in their faces? How many MAGA people have a passport or the kind of docs they ask for?

Ncaa says there are less than 100 “trans” athletes and the majority are trans men, meaning biological woman playing in mens sport.

    This is not a problem.

More soldiers have died or been injured the past 2 weeks than there are trans girls playing high school and college sports.

  19. He is trying to steal the country for himself. Why would let him do that? It’s not HIS fucking country, it’s all of ours. He’s doing all of this because he knows what he did and doesn’t want us to find out.

If we let him take it now, we will not have a country to leave to our children and grandhildren. And he’s **not worthy any of this.**

  20. PrefersEarlGrey on

Trump had 62 unsuccessful lawsuits alleging voter fraud in the 2020 election. When asked for proof they could not provide any evidence.

    Elections are secure.

    This is voter disenfranchisement.

  21. I’m a bit confused.

Elections are administered by the states.

Powers not enumerated to the federal government by the Constitution are granted to the States.

How does the Congress even have authority over State run elections?

  22. loud-oranges on

Look, I don’t feel good about this at all. It’s unconstitutional to ask for ID at all imo. But at the end of the day, I see this backfiring. You’re telling me Bobbiee Raey Multi Multi Last Name from Bumfuck,Nowhere is gonna get their ducks in a row to vote for a Republican when Trump’s not on the ballot?

Meanwhile I’ve got time and resources and motherfucking ballot to cast.

Everyone has the right to vote but at the end of this day this hurts the GOP.

  23. Most married women will have a different last name on their birth certificate and driver’s license. They won’t match. This corrupt slob is evil and a pain in the ass.

  24. The American people are done with a new ideas from this Administration. That’s the truth.

  25. Crafty_Ish1973 on

It’s not a voter ID bill. It’s a voter disenfranchisement bill.

The SAVE Act would require all 50 states to send their full voter rolls, SSNs and all, to the Department of Homeland Security on an ongoing basis to be routinely checked. The bill also requires frequent voter purging and eliminates the 90-day protection of voter rolls for upcoming elections.

Under the terms of the SAVE Act, the Trump administration could disenfranchise millions of Americans the day of an election and nobody could stop them.

  26. Moveyourbloominass on

He believes he is forcing something, but his piece of shit bill is dead!!!! Lots of bluster because he and his scum Republicans have no chance to pass the Save Act. Idiots, the whole lot of them.

  27. realborislegasov on

If they really believed this bill was necessary, and not simply a ploy to steal the mid terms, they’d offer to postpone implementation until the next election. There is no chance whatsoever that this can be fairly implemented in 7 months allowing voters to access the documents they’d need.

  28. Tiny_Measurement_837 on

I can’t wait until all the 60s-plus crowd that voted for Trump head off to the polls and find out they cannot vote! This isn’t just a democrat issue—this will affect republicans as well, and I think there are a lot of them that don’t realize that it’s going to affect them, too.

  29. It makes elderly people like me not be able to vote by mail. Making it inconvenient to vote.

  30. Dems should push their own voter id bill that’s tied to existing id like drivers licenses, and includes auto registration unless the person opts out, making it illegal to purge voter rolls, and creating a federal holiday.
