  1. This quote from the gun lobby fucking reeks.

    >There is no evidence that firearms limits make the public safer. There is no evidence that banning straight-pull, button-release or lever-release firearms will make public safer.

I don’t know much about gun, but I do know that we only have to look across the Pacific to the USA to see some pretty telling evidence. Saying shit like “there is no evidence” is purposefully disingenuous and is designed to make people not look any further into it.

Also, why would a Premier care what a few gun nuts want? They don’t have enough votes to affect election results, so the other assumption is 💲💲💲

  2. no he didnt.

    >In a letter signed a day before the government entered caretaker mode for the state election on 21 March, Malinauskas told a peak shooters group that SA had some of the strictest gun laws in the country and there were “currently … no plans to amend” them.

this is a pretty dumb article

  3. At the time I remember seeing a tv grab of him standing on North Terrace saying that he would recall Parliament before the election if needed. Obviously that didn’t happen.

  4. There is no need for new firearm laws as they weren’t the failure.

The failure stems from the incompetent NSW firearms registry whom is wholly adequate and led to multiple serious events where people have died due to them not being able to have more then 84 staff in the department.

  5. To be fair, the article doesn’t really say what reforms SA should make, after noting that some of what was agreed is already in place.
