Politics isn’t a game, it’s the way we decide how our society functions. Political decisions are decisions about the lives of citizens, serious decisions like does someone get sent to war, do they get healthcare, do they become imprisoned.
Claims of being “not political” are statements that you don’t care about those decisions and therefore don’t care about the lives of other citizens, even in the most charitable reading.
A less charitable reading is that it’s an excuse or attempt to evade responsibility for your politics. For a rich man, it suggests a recognition that one has enough money to not bother worrying about others, because his money will ensure he comes out fine even if others don’t.
