From USA TODAY:
Data show that Canadian arrivals to the United States have been down in recent months. Tensions between the two countries rose last year amid President Donald Trump’s trade war and branding of the country as the 51st state. Some travelers opted not to visit under the new administration, citing various reasons, including federal policies targeting the LGBTQ+ community and reports of tourists being detained by immigration officers.
More than a year into Trump’s second term, here’s what the travel numbers show:
– The U.S. saw 21.7% drop in visitor arrivals from Canada through November 2025 compared to the prior year, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Travel and Tourism Office.
– International visitor arrivals overall declined by 5.4%.
canadians really said keep the tariffs, we’re taking our tourism money somewhere that actually likes us

With the exception of the orangutan in the White House and a small percentage of cultists, Americans love Canadians. Some of the coolest people on the planet. It’s too bad we’ve completely destroyed that relationship by electing this fucking guy. Twice. Guess we can kiss the tourism dollars goodbye for another 50 years.

Even my friend’s parents (we’re all Canadian), who love Trump (I got into it in 2016 with my friend’s dad during my friend’s bachelor party. He started it, I exited the conversation before it affected anything), have their Texas retirement trailer up for sale. They waited too long. The prices seem to have collapsed. My other friend’s parents put theirs up for sale as soon as Trump was re-elected. They did pretty well. Purchased for 10k Canadian in 2009, sold for 44k USD. For what it is, they did well. It was an older trailer.

Carney is not appealing as a politician, making Canada less appealing. Canada used to seem like a clean, fresh place, now it appears negative, less interesting. This is reality.

You know Trump wanted to build that wall.
Can we, as a global community, help build a wall on both borders?
I think everyone will benefit.

I just need a one way pass to Canada and that would be that. Goodbye to this hell hole to hopefully fall into a lesser of a hell hole.

It is not Canada, people all over the world avoid the US.

Never liked America even before all this Trump trash, and will never go back after Canadians were detained and murdered. Good luck with your dying, declining country, USA.

So you’re telling me that people get offended when belittling and threatening to invade their country?
Who knew!

I’ve quite enjoyed the USA boycott cause it’s made my wife a lot easier to convince to go to Europe for vacations instead over the past year lol

Even without all the political garbage, why would I pay 1.5x for the exact same burger that I can get in Canada?

Not Canadian (Brit), but I’ve been hoping to go to Vegas for a while. That’s not happening now. Looking for holiday destinations in Canada now instead.

Seattle area with an Airbnb – we used to get about 20% of our guests from Canada. They just don’t visit anymore – guessing we haven’t had a single Canadian guest in about a year now.

What’s going to really shock them is when it doesn’t rebound after Trump. Once you lose a customer it is hard to get them back.

We threatened to annex them and we have gestapo. This is not surprising.
With the oil disruption, them finding different buyers for potash is going to sting.

You can even just tell when looking to book flights to even the popular cities. A lot of routes have been reduced. Why is a direct flight to LA at 12pm now $800?

America’s largest and most profitable export is its culture. That’s been completely ruined in one year flat. 100 years of people looking at the USA with hope and envy, out the window.
