  1. From the article:

Tehran accused the UK of participating in “aggression” by allowing U.S. forces to use UK bases for airstrikes on Iran.

U.S. bombers have been flying out of RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire for what the UK government insists are “defensive” missions such as targeting Iranian missile sites threatening Gulf states where nearly 200,000 British citizens still remain.

But the Tehran regime, some of whose leaders regard Britain as the “Little Satan” supporting America, condemned the stance taken by Sir Keir Starmer’s government.

In a conversation with Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi criticised the use of RAF bases by US aircraft as participation in “aggression”.

Kier Starmer has angered Trump as well by by refusing to deploy warships for a maritime mission in the Strait of Hormuz, and not allowing U.S. forces to use UK bases for offensive strikes on Iran.

Apparently those bombers (B1, B52), take long runways.

One base in England and Diego Garcia have long enough runways.

There’s video of bombers taking off from the base in England so…

Is it WW3 yet? French carrier in the med as well.

  3. UK needs to decide to publicly say if they are in or out. Saying they don’t support it while allowing the US to use their airfields is just lying to everyone.

  4. When the Ukraine War kicked off, and Russia was using Belarus to stage the invasion, and then later used them to launch their ordnance, we were pretty unanimous that this meant that Belarus was participating on Russia’s side, yes?

Seems this is pretty much the same thing.

Now, Ukraine chose not to retaliate against Belarus at the time, as it might have caused Belarus to take a more active role. If Iran doesn’t mind the risk of UK taking a more active stance than just letting US use its bases, then why shouldn’t they retaliate?

Netanyahu dragged Trump in, Trump dragged Britain in, oil dragged EU… what a drag

  6. Just a heads up this title is intentionally misleading. Iran have previously explicitly said while they consider this move aggressive they don’t consider Britain in the war.

No where in this article does Iran say they now consider themselves at war with Britain, this seems to just be them restating their existing stance.

    Well it is.

We’re facilitating a fascist nonces distraction war because our ruling class are cowards.

  8. This is completely contrary to what Irans ambassador was saying. Is the ambassador just out of the loop and freewheeling it?

Edit – misleading headline. First of all we were dragged into Trumps war on day one. Secondly, Iran hasn’t declared war on the UK, and has basically said the acts of aggression from the UK will be remembered.

  9. Yeah, I do kinda agree. Those US planes should not be stationed at our base. I can partially accept the ‘defensive measures’ argument, aslong as they only strike missile sites that have struck UK territory or allies. However, the moment a bomb from one of those planes strikes any other target, we need to kick the yanks out immediately.

  10. But according to the Iranian regime, it’s not aggression that Iran has been sending Shahed drones to Russia since 2022 for bombing civilians in Ukraine.

Iran attacked a British base and basically invited them to side with the US.

Just like they attacked all their gulf neighbors’ civilian population centers, airports, hotels, ships, and oil infra, gulf states who were previously neutral or even friendly to Iran, and whose territory the US wasn’t conducting attacks from.

UNTIL Iran attacked them, and they closed their embassies and withdrew their diplomatic missions to Iran, warned they reserved the right to retaliate, a bunch of them started aligning with the US, permitting overflight and use of bases, and pushing the US to neutralize their madman neighbor. It’s also crazy to see 100 years’ worth of Arab-Israeli relations normalization happening in the span of a few months too.

Classic Iran, pissing everyone off and aligning them to the US who would’ve otherwise been alone if they had just kept their grubby little ballistic missiles and drones to themselves and their adversary.

Like we wouldn’t do the same. We are starving an island we’ve embargoed for decades because they hosted Russian missiles a half century ago
