If Iran came back with “We don’t negotiate with terrorists” it would be the funniest thing

  2. frozenpissglove on

Then they’ll just make the “energy crisis” worse by destroying more infrastructure. This is just going to keep spiraling if we don’t start making smarter decisions.

  3. If Iran doesn’t FULLY OPEN, WITHOUT THREAT, the Strait of Hormuz, within 48 HOURS from this exact point in time, the United States of America will hit and obliterate their various POWER PLANTS, STARTING WITH THE BIGGEST ONE FIRST! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP

They were going to bomb those power plants either way so what’s the threat?

This guy has no fucking clue what he’s doing and the whole world can see his desperation. Thanks again MAGA.

I thought we didn’t need the strait? Sorry it’s hard to keep up with President Dementia since it’s a different statement every hour.

  7. “If you don’t do what I say in 48 hours, I’m going to bomb you like I’ve been doing for 3 weeks even though it’s not working because I don’t know what the f*ck I’m doing or how to get out of the mess I created!”

  8. Ah, attack civilian infrastructure. The tactic that famously allowed Germany to defeat Britain in the second world war.

I thought we had already won this war, despite needing an additional $200B and an increased marine presence in the region. I’m confused, is it possible that Trump has been lying all along???

  10. This is an ineffectual threat because he’s so untrustworthy and malicious that he would attack them anyway. This is the government that assassinated their head of state while negotiations were ongoing.

Doesn’t he really mean he will bomb his “cowardly” allies powerplants for not sending ships to the Strait? Who friggin’ knows with this guy. I would hate to be his top general, trying to meet non-existent or randomly shifting war aims.

Attacking civilian infrastructure may be justified in support of an imminent ground offensive (to disorient enemy command and reduce one’s own casualties) but bombing it simply as a means of coercion violates the laws of war (specifically proportionality) as civilians will be disproportionately affected. Make no mistake, *many* civilians will die preventable deaths when power is cut off hospitals, water treatment facilities, and other life support systems.

It’s also completely *useless* politically. All it will do is hurt the civilians inside major cities of Iran (who will be the one most affected, and who currently deeply hate the Ayatollah regime), only strengthening the regime’s propaganda and support.

This is literally what Putin has been doing every winter in Ukraine – bomb power plants so civilians freeze to death in subzero weather when entire residential blocks lose all power and thus all heating, hoping civilian suffering would pressure Ukraine to surrender. It didn’t work in Ukraine and it won’t work in Iran.

Terror-bombing civilians is not only cruel, it has *never once worked in the history of warfare* (the closest counter example was Japan surrendering in WW2, and that (1) required fucking *nukes*, and (2) happened *after* they lost the conventional war and the USSR joined in, leaving them literally no out). Nothing about the Iran war even comes close to these conditions.

  13. First murders school girl by bombing them now want to bomb power plants and cut off electricity. Celebrates the death of muller, takes away food security and healthcare to millions of American citizens, prices are rising fast another economic collapse is forecasted if he doesn’t straighten things out and stop his war but he doesn’t care if people suffer and he takes joy out of people suffering and dying. He’s a vial piece of shit.

  14. Nuclear ones too?? Sounds like the UN was right to start preparing in case of nuclear exposure because of this definitely-not-a-war, which we’ve already won btw and is also already definitely over…🙄

This isn’t going to end until the world turns on the US, is it? Really tired of “winning.”

  16. somewhat_brave on

Why would they reopen the strait while we are actively killing them? It makes no sense.

How can this psycho go past congress and start a war? Why is no one reigning him in??

The next Trump press conference, a ballsy reporter just needs to ask Trump if he’s considering stepping down and letting Vance take over – even go so far as to compliment the president on his excellent selection of a competent, sharp, strategic VP.

Then stand back and watch the narcissism and ego show commence.

I do admire Trump’s dedication do doing the wrong things in every situation.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but attacking civilian energy infrastructure is a war crime, no?
