Money to let the US continue to eat itself. Sounds like a win for the French.

At some point, you have to really ask yourself, “is the US government actively trying to fuck you over as a citizen that isn’t in the top 1%?”

This is with the company whose CEO died in mysterious circumstances coming out of Moscow right?

“Trump’s Department of the Interior will reimburse the company the $928m it paid for the leases under Joe Biden.”
Oh look, a massively misleading headline.
Cancelling the project is bad but its not Tthis is a penalty clause for a voided contract or something. TotalEnergies isn’t making any money here they’re just effectively getting a down-payment back.

Ironically trumps war on Iran could be the best news for renewables world wide.
As the price of oil rises and possibly even becomes unavailable its going to light a fire under the renewables potential. Wind is generally cheaper than oil but when oil is 200+ a barrel or not available the alternative will be massive renewables.

Can they pay me a billion dollars to not do a wind energy project?
FeistyTie5281 on
Actually it’s to compensate for a project the USA would be successfully sued for breach of contract.
And the US Government Justice Department has no available resources because they are all busy shielding Trump for being an Epstein co-conspirator.

What a boneheaded move to increase our reliance on fuel that increases global warming AND sparks wars (quite literally).
Also wonder why the article just mentions this as the last sentence: “Total’s CEO, Patrick Pouyanné, said offshore wind was not the most affordable way to produce electricity in the US”
Is it because all the red tape increases upfront capex or is it truly not affordable from a long term ROI perspective?

This is burning $1 billion. Just gone. For what? Ego. That’s it. How does this help the US? It/he doesn’t.

I think general population will always earn from billionaire to just pay them back anyhow. Either directly or Goverment will use your tax money to help their billionair friends.

they hope. so far they just ignore judge’s orders
How fucking idiotic.
So not only are we being forced to stay in the dark ages, we’re going to pay big bucks to get to stay in the dark ages…
Ofc, anything to keep oil companies happy
Right in the middle of an energy crisis. Cui bono?
A wind project plan *for the US*. Phew, I was really worried about France for a second there.
Republicans can find more ways to piss away our tax dollars…
If France clever, take the money then start wind farm projects under a new name, win win.
Save the whales!!! /s
This is winning. /s
Peddling backwards as fast as we can
And all because Trump didn’t want wind turbines near his golf course…
