On one hand, given the amount of misinformation and propaganda in Australia’s media, I expected this number to be higher.

On the other hand, given who is running the US and Israel at the moment, that 25% really should be lower.

There are Americans who grew up pledging allegiance and saluting the flag just coming to realise that the state supplied information coming out of *fucking Iran* is more reliable than anything coming out of their President’s tweets, White House press conferences or their news media commentary.

Of course. Unfortunately there are a lot of poorly educated folks out there that think this is all the war and “orange mans” fault when the reality is we are now sleeping in a bed we made for ourselves.

Even if you remove the war and the big meanie orange man did we really think having our entire economy and way of life dependent on the uninterrupted flow of black sludge from one of the most war torn and unstable regions on earth, which includes a narrow straight controlled by a theocratic dictatorship was a good idea? The Achilles heel in that plan was a little more than just this conflict and this US administration.

We have the fossil, nuclear and renewable energy resources to be totally independent. Unfortunately the public has rallied against using our resources for the better part of 20 years (including OP I do note) so it’s no suprrise at all our toxic reliance on imports has now landed us in this situation.

My take? We should be supporting the US as much as possible in this war to bring some short term stability to the region while we rapidly build out and expand our oil, gas and renewable energy here so next time the region inevitably descends into chaos we will be unbothered.

I unfortunately doubt we have the polical competence and will to make that happen but one can dream.

I am pro an effective action that gets rid of that horrific regime.

This has not been an effective action.

The 25% that support the war wouldn’t be supporting the war if they were asked to be a foot soldier for the ground invasion of Iran.

  5. Well atleast we have 25% that we can offer up if troops are required.

Full credit to whoever did the brainwashing of Australians though, to have them so cooked they still support this is impressive

I mean i exppect even less than that have ever read an IAEA report. Hell Id hate to drop a home truth that the Gaurdian whilst happy to publish a poll has probably never published a relevant excerpt from the IAEAs reporting.

Price of oil not withstanding, ultimately that is why Israel is bombing iran, which is kinda relevent because it couldnt care less if oil was $10,000 a barrel.

  7. Wonder how people have the stomach for war after deciding that the only way to defeat Putin was through force and not negotiation – I would love to see the study of the psyche of a typical left voter to know how they can stomach one war and not the other when arguably one is much worse than the other (being Iran with the way they carry out executions of protestors).

  8. The US is preparing for a ground invasion. Israel has occupied 10% of Lebanon.

    >Marles did not rule out extending the deployment of the Wedgetail, which is now two weeks into what was described as an “initial four weeks”. The government has stressed the hi-tech surveillance craft is not deployed directly to the Iran conflict, and is assisting in defence of the UAE, but Marles has said the plane is feeding information into the Combined Air Operations Centre in Qatar, the facility that helps the US coordinate Middle Eastern operations.

We need to stay the hell out. Any support we provide, even to the Gulf States, is supporting the US/Israel actions. Both those nations’ leaders have made them rogue states and they both are the biggest danger to damn near every other nation on earth and the supply lines that connect us all.
