Most are voluntary. Teachers make purchases from their own pay in order to help the class and students. These costs are growing. Teachers ask parents if they can help a little for the benefit of their children.
It’s a small price to ask because government funding isn’t adequate enough.

Idk I remember being in Yr 12 saying I could t go to grad ceremony if I didn’t pay fees or work out a payment plan.
