  1. Recovering Catholic here. Despite the fact I left the church many years ago, I gotta say I love Pope Leo.

“God: ‘I don’t take sides in wars.’

Humans: ‘Cool, but can you at least like our prayer post?’

    God: left on read”

  3. valentinacutieee on

The Pope basically just said ‘unsubscribed’ on behalf of God. Bold move, let’s see if anyone actually listens.

I can’t imagine Pedolf Shitler praying to anything other than his own orange reflection.

  5. Hegseth’s religious rhetoric surrounding this Iran thing is one of the most disgusting displays I’ve ever seen an American politician make. He needs to be tried in an international court for war crimes once we get ourselves out of this mess.

Edit: I’m sure they’ll get themselves pardons before trump is gone, but there may legitimately be a group of people involved who can’t safely travel internationally again.

  6. God doesn’t exist, but if he did, I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t have let things get this far to begin with.

  7. I don’t care which side you are on here, anyone arguing about who god listens to is an idiot.

It is so nice to have a Pope that doesn’t mince words. Tells it like it is.

As an agnostic that leans atheist, these last two popes make me super happy.

  10. What does the Pope know? He doesn’t even preach the prosperity gospel or own a private jet.

Ohh dear. Trump may have to liberate the Vatican City . And Isreal claims there are underground tunnels.

  12. “The pope goes against our war prayers, so the pope isn’t very Christian.”–Pete Hegseth probably

MAGA Catholics are told to ignore The Pope and Bannon and others are trying to make him Fascist.

    We must unite.

They want us dumb, hungry , tired angry, scared and/or distracted so that we will put up little resistance when full autocracy is tried.

WE MUST STOP THEM THIS MIDTERM ELECTION: November 2026. It is the last democratic chance out of this mess.

Vote, donate, volunteer, door knock/canvass, phone bank, write postcards.

Get in touch with your local community organizations or democratic headquarters now to get involved. Here are some good organizations mobilizing people:

Doesn’t listen to anyone else’s either, but that’s the beside the point I guess

  16. I guess the supposed Antichrist is somewhere in Trump’s regime — so perhaps not an issue about their fake prayers being heard? lol

  17. I mean. Yes he does. He’s not real, but if he was, their book explicitly tells us that god takes sides.

  18. Remember that one Twitter user who said Pope Francis should read the Bible because he said Christians and Muslims are also brothers and sisters, like would you lecture the Pope of all people about the Bible.

Pretty sure the warmongers will say the same thing. Besides Pope Leo is the leader of the Catholic world and the religious apocalypse nuts are mostly non-Catholic.

War crimes are not subject to a pardon. Maybe you should do something beneficial research before posting and showing your ignorance.

  20. He also doesn’t listen to the prayers of people who were made slaves (I’m talking non Israelites) or Holocaust victims or child trafficking victims or….

It’s worth noting that this is showing the divide between Catholicism and protestantism, particularly evangelical protestantism. The divide has been quiet for the past few decades but historically these two groups have not gotten along AT ALL and have very, very different theology and world view. A lot of people paint Christianity with the same broad brush, but there’s actually a huge divide (and always has been) between Catholics and protestants, and that divide is even more pronounced with evangelicalism. JD Vance is a very conservative Catholic, which is a whole other discussion talking about the different factions within Catholicism, but the average Catholic (and Catholic theology) is not a JD Vance Catholic. And yeah Steve Bannon says he’s Catholic, but he’s basically a sede and heretical.

Trump already said many times he won’t be accepted in heaven. One wonders why

It was 18 years ago, roughly, that I was confirmed into the Catholic Church, chose St. Francis as my patron saint, then went up to my mom, asked for the car keys so that I could wait outside. She told me I could make my own religious choices after confirmation and so I left. Immediately after to go wait in the car. I was around 12 years old. I am still not the biggest fan of catholicism (considering I’m an atheist), but I cannot deny that Pope Francis and Pope Leo XIV have made me soften towards Catholicism and I am finding out that it was not always as rigid as I expected. Still an atheist, but it is refreshing to see religious leaders speaking out against the wickedness of humanity.

  24. Sure “he” does. It happens a lot in the bible including rewarding those who do war and win, with the spoils of war – the young girls. If you want to talk about not listening, it would be those children that aren’t being heard.

  25. iveseensomethings82 on

He must not listen to those children that are begging not to be raped by their priest either because Leo keeps defending the rapists.

  26. LoudandQuiet47 on

Well… I mean, he clearly hasn’t read his bible and forgot Church history… but ok. I can vibe with this sentiment.

  27. Read the Bible. He does answer the prayers of those who wage war multiple times in it. Made them look silly in the process but the results were terrifying.

  28. I love Pope Leo. A few months ago, I had lunch at the suburban Chicago pizzeria where has used to eat when he was a priest at a nearby church. They named a new pizza after him after he became pope, The Poperoni Pizza. He’s also a White Sox fan.

Religious part of America is fucked up anyway. From super churches to all this “In god we trust” bullshit in government to these fruitcakes in the government excusing wars with religion… It’s like the part of separating church and state was just a mild recommendation that everyone has forgot about a century ago already…
