Why didn’t his boss intervene. He’s the great negotiatior. Effing pathetic administration that is responsible for many lives lost, struggling economy, and an embarrassment amongst other countries and leaders.

JD Vance’s uncharismatic and awkward ass couldn’t even get election interference right.

And why was Vance shilling for Hungary’s dictator while the war in Iran was on the cusp of a major escalation?

That said, the right’s obsession with Orban is driven primarily by a few things.

One is the desire for an authoritarian leader like Orban in the U.S., which they have in Trump of course. So it’s not just about that want for an authoritarian, but also about normalizing Trump’s rule by absolutism, especially as a replacement for American democracy.

The right also glorifies Orban because he’s a democratically elected “strongman” whose anti-immigrant, ultra-nationalist and nativist rhetoric resembles the same kind of bigoted and fearmongering rhetoric of far right figures in the U.S.

They admire Orban’s ability to use his powers to unilaterally attack and/or tear down democratic and so-called “woke” institutions like Trump has tried to do. Unilaterally and dictatorially are synonyms in this case.

Like Orban, Trump has consolidated power under his administration, except Orban has done it more effectively because there are fewer guardrails standing in his way.

Orban also successfully created a unitary executive beholden to no one, which has been a major goal of far right movements and organizations in the U.S. for decades.

The right identifies with Orban’s image as a fighter against “globalism” and the dangers of “gender ideology” and “wokeness,” which many conservatives see as existential threats to the U.S., but in reality, these “threats” are often contrived, vague, and hyperbolic in nature. Fantasies that are made real by MAGA’s culture wars and conspiracy theories.

Orban also constantly uses civilization ending language and narratives that convey how Christianity and European heritage/identity are “under attack.” This is obviously attractive to white nationalists, religious bigots and nativists belonging to the conservative/MAGA party.

He appeals to conservatives in the U.S. because they harbor the same kind of culture war grievances and also believe that they are ultimately victims of a new world order.

There’s also Orban’s fixation with George Soros, and all the anti-semitic tropes that come along with it. This resonates with conservatives/MAGA because Soros is a central villain in their anti-semitic narrative.

And among other things, the far right values Orban’s capacity for controlling the media because MAGA believes that the U.S. media is “unfair” towards Trump, an idea that helps his supporters make excuses for him while he endeavors to silence his critics and threatens to revoke the broadcast licenses of networks that don’t constantly publish flattering stories about him.

Orban is a hero in the right’s eyes because, although he is a dictator, he represents an effective deterrent to “the radical left” and all of its evil machinations and depraved ideas.

It’s a historically common theme among dictators, fascists and kings that pits “us vs them,” insiders vs outsiders, and tries to defend oppression and tyranny as a response to the oppression and tyranny of one’s enemies.

The right wants to replicate Orban in the U.S. because his way of governing is viewed as a justification for authoritarianism.

Project 2025 mirrors a lot of what orban implemented in hungary. He provided the blueprint and was the role model for what trump and his thugs are currently trying to create in america. It must be very unnerving for them to see how its still able to crumble apart even after 16 years

Vance is the whipping boy yet again. There was no win for Vance. If Orban lost then Vance is a loser. If Orban won then Trump is a winner.
