  1. *”This is getting crazy” is the understatement of the century.*

“President Trump seems to be in some kind of spite-induced fugue state regarding Pope Leo XIV—insisting that he isn’t fighting with His Holiness ([he is](https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/116394704213456431)) and that the pope said Iran could have a nuclear weapon (he didn’t).”

“Why are you fighting with the pope?” a reporter asked Trump outside the White House on Thursday. “And are you worried it’s upsetting your—”

“No, no, I don’t—I have to do what’s right. The pope has to understand that, very simple. I have nothing against the pope. His brother is MAGA all the way. I like his brother Louis.”

“Then why are you fighting with him?”

“I’m not fighting with him. The pope made a statement. He says Iran can have a nuclear weapon. I say Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon—”

“He didn’t say that,” a reporter interrupted. Trump continued on, ignoring her.”

“And if the pope looked at the 42,000 people who were killed over the last two or three months, as a protester with no weapons, no nothing, if you take a look at that. So I can disagree with the pope. I have a right to disagree with the pope.”

“This is getting crazy. The president of the United States warned “an entire civilization will die tonight” last Tuesday. After the world’s highest Catholic leader called it “unacceptable,” and decried the greed and violence accompanying the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran and Lebanon, Trump called him “[weak on crime](https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/116394704213456431)” for some reason. ”

“Again, the pope responded with grace. Then vice president and Catholic convert JD Vance [entered the mix](https://newrepublic.com/post/209106/us-catholic-bishops-republicans-vance-trump-pope-just-war), and now we’re here with Trump putting words in the pope’s mouth.”

  2. And meanwhile, Pete Hegseth is making up passages from the Bible. Or rather, using passages from movies instead, while thinking they are from the Bible. Specifically, *Pulp Fiction* by Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avery.

  3. Hes been broken with Reality since the 80s

World’s most infamous liar continues his lying ways.

  4. I love these articles that are coming out like “is Donald Trump a bad guy?” like where have you been for the last decade?

  5. irespondwithmyface on

Damn we’re up to 42,000 now killed huh?

What better way to defend them than to “take them back to the stone age” and “end their entire civilization?”

That’s the best way to help the Iranians…

  6. Of course, he has dementia. He shouldn’t be allowed to drive a car, let alone be POTUS.

He’s going to drop the bomb and the orders will be carried out because he’s surrounded himself with sycophants.

  7. Cond1tionOver7oad on

“Trump starts making up things” is one of the most consistent Trumpisms ever. It’s pretty much the only thing he has ever reliably done.

  8. One of the oldest argument strategies, cave men probably used it — “straw man.”

Invent some bullshit nonsense your opponent did not say, then argue against that.

  9. Sideshift1427 on

Trump’s response to Iranian citizens being killed by their government is to kill more of them.

It’s called confabulation, it’s common in dementia. He was doing it a while back with stories like his uncle teaching the Unabomber at MIT, various experts warned back then, it would get worse and it’s like someone’s in a dream like state their damaged brain is trying to fill in details.

  11. Visible_Ad_1902 on

His dementia is getting worse by the day. He is out of touch with reality and his cult continues to believe his lies. They worship him. Stupid, uneducated people. Hillary was right when she called them deplorable.

I do enjoy the humour derived from Trump’s “the pope is weak on crime” stance. I’m pretty sure nobody else in history observed this out loud. Trump is a real trailblazer for morons.

  13. Anon_Chapstick on

I think he can’t handle that he can’t really do anything to the Pope like he could other world leaders. Trumps loosing it over the one guy who can stand up to him and Trump has almost nothing to hit back with.

He cut off funding to the charities, but what else can he do? Leo is a US citizen by birth so he can’t ban him from the US. Trump can’t tariff the Vatican effectively. He can’t sanction them. He can’t invade/bomb the Vatican without invading Italy. He can’t kick out every member of the clergy from the US.

I think this is where we see Trump actually try to start his own church.

  14. He can’t remember the weather forecast.

Of course he can’t remember why he’s supposed to be against the pope.

  15. > “an entire civilization will die tonight”

    Seriously, get fucked, Donald.

Remember when we had teams of nuclear investigators in Iran through a deal brokered by several nations over years, and then Donald pulled out of it without a plan?

And now here we are, with Donald making it 1000x worse?

    I fucking do…

  16. I mean really, what is wrong with him. Vindictive narcissistic megalomaniac. He has no business being president of the US.

  17. Sundowning Donnie will continue with this behavior until he is removed from office. This is a symptom of dementia and he is moving down hill quickly.

  18. So, is the President just joking still? Are we just not getting his humor, what with calling the ACTUAL Pope – a liar?

For seemingly good Christians (or whatever they call themselves) this does seem like a fairly stupid person move. One of the least fallible humans on Earth (supposedly, according to what I’ve been reading about the papacy) and this – uh – dude, puts words in the Pope’s mouth.

  19. Interesting use of the present tense with “breaks with reality” as if this is a new phenomenon.

  20. Bromance_Rayder on

There’s nothing he can say about any topic that will have him removed from office.

We need to wait for a serious physical episode – a bad fall, him physically lashing out at someone etc. Words are meaningless in the US now.

  21. Erratic_-Prophet on

Trump is appealing to protestant America, not Catholic America, and Protestants hate Catholics. Any Catholic that voted trump is a sucker, but funnily enough a ton of American Catholics hate the pope so are they really Catholic? More like Protestants with a different label pretending they’re Catholic while really just being stereotypical American Hate Christians™

Wear your red hats proudly, Evangelicals. Stand up and let it be known who you really support.

  23. MetastaticCarcinoma on

I actually love this for him, and for the whole MAGA cult. It’s *delicious* to watch him implode. This is the best possible end for Donald: progressively making worse and worse messes, saying and doing things that become SO indefensible, that his base has no choice but to have a very uncomfortable talk with themselves and other supporters, about how their messiah has lost the plot and has turned horrible.

It’s getting much worse, and it’s cringe/uncomfortable – but this is the best way. A self-own, self-destruction. It has to be him. It can’t come from outside him, because then it’s too easy to spin it as him being “framed” or martyred.

He has to turn into a blubbering pile of mush, before his base’s eyes.

    Gonna be embarrassing!

  24. Ok_Purchase854 on

“Breaks with reality” as if he ever lived in the same reality as the rest of us?

  25. AmaroWolfwood on

Trump has been divorced with reality for decades. He won the custody battle for half the country in 2016. And he got to keep the house.
