>All four Black Republicans in the House are leaving Congress next year: Three are seeking statewide office, and one is retiring because redistricting in his state effectively boxed him out of his seat. The exodus is a reflection of the striking and persistent lack of diversity in the G.O.P. ranks of Congress, something that Mr. McCarthy has acknowledged is still an issue even years after his efforts to address it.

Not sure why this is thought to be news. It’s not like Republicans ever wanted black people in their circle… they only lied just enough to gain the black votes they needed for the Orange man.

The black people in the party are useful idiots until they are not useful anymore as Candice Owens has found out.

I would agree this is “Erasing Diversity Gains” to the extent it reduces the diversity in Congressional support for Americans and their communities. If Tim Scott (SC) were to leave the US Senate, would that likely reduce the representation of diversity? At least from the standpoint of Heritage Foundation scoring, it isn’t clear to me that any of these four US House members has distinguished themselves as representatives of a diverse set of communities. They appear to be more conservative that the Average Republican, so (imo) best represent the wealthiest (and smallest group of) Americans. While the billionaire / trillionaire class is likely the smallest of minorities, I don’t think they are lacking representation in the US House, US Senate, or SCOTUS.
Tim Scott (South Carolina) in the US Senate, for example, has an 86% rating from the Heritage Foundation compared to 62% for the Average Republican; [https://heritageaction.com/scorecard/members/S001184/118](https://heritageaction.com/scorecard/members/S001184/118)
Byron Donalds (Florida) in the US House has a lifetime score of 97% compared to 74% for the Average Republican; [https://heritageaction.com/scorecard/members/D000032/118](https://heritageaction.com/scorecard/members/D000032/118)

The Republican party has been absolute trash since Nixon, but there was a fig leaf of respectability. It was nonsense, but enough for shitty low info voters to convince themselves it was an ok choice.
Trump tore that fig leaf off, and groped it’s junk.
