  1. They promise a mentally underdeveloped person immortality if they attempt to kill the president. Think John Hinkley, Lee Harvey Oswald, John Wilkes Booth and then make sure his aim is bad and not care if anyone else gets hurt.

  2. “*How would an assassination attempt be ‘staged’?*”

Exactly how it was staged in the above photo.

And again this evening at the WHCA…it’s all WWF style bullshit.

    I’m so tired boss

why does the lady agent have her fist raised?

And the male agent with the sunglasses looks like he’s looking directly at the camera.

I mean the guy started talking about the need for a ballroom because of this?

  6. Trump now holds the worst net economic approval rating at this point in a presidency—of any president on record. Not just worse than his own previous performance, but worse than every modern predecessor measured.

  7. Big-Rule5269 on

It’s truly sad that we even have to question it because Trump is so utterly dishonest, but remember, there are tens of millions  that seriously hate this piece of crap and how he personally has made their lives miserable..

  8. Well at the very least, there’s like a 87% chance that the secret service guy that was shot, was shot by another secret service guy.

Sequence of events that have been released either by video or reported on:

In the initial videos in the ballroom, multiple shots ring out that all sound similar to each other. None sounding like a shotgun. The Fox report I was watching had their intelligence expert on, (a former military guy) and just from the initial ballroom video he suspected that all shots heard in the video were from a hand gun.

In the hallway video, the suspect is seen to run past the checkpoint carrying a shotgun in both hands. At least one Secret Service member draws his weapon. By this point the suspect is out of frame. At first it was just reported as a “long gun” but in the white house press conference they clarified it was in fact a shotgun.

It was reported that the suspect was tackled and taken into custody unharmed.

It is also reported that a Secret Service agent was shot in their bulletproof vest but was not seriously injured.

    So,

-all shots fired seemed to come from weapons other than the one the suspect was carrying in the video we saw, which was moments before he was captured. (In fairness, it was reported he did also have a handgun on him.(

-suspect wasn’t hit by any of those shots.

-Secret Service member was shot… and I’m no weapon or body armor expert but I’d sure imagine if someone was shot nearly point blank with a shotgun, even in the best body armor, you’d have serious bodily injury from the impact alone, let alone any penetration.

So it stands to reason that the Secret Service member that was shot, was shot by another Secret Service member.

  9. Corporate media (Fox News, CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, Newsmax) has a new toy to take our mind off the Inflation, Economy on life support, millions losing healthcare, stupid wars, deficit exploding, and on and on……

Honestly, i think the thing getting me is how, instead of say, telling people he’s ramping up ICE squads or white house security, blaming Iran/Canada/Mexico/whoever for this, or trying to use this as an excuse to abolish term limits so he can be president until he dies (and a little bit after until Don jr. gets installed). He’s using this as an excuse to get his ballroom built.

How the fuck does nearly getting shot translate into his disgusting vanity project?

  11. This has given me such a dread feeling, knowing full well how he and his chronies are gonna run with this.

  12. AcanthisittaNo6653 on

The shooter just squirted through the security checkpoint. You couldn’t see a gun in his hand, and he never made it to the ballroom level. Another epic fail for secret service. Now wondering if TSA would have been more effective manning the security checkpoint.

I like the two paragraphs dedicated to the etymology of the word “staged” to shamelessly pad the word count. “[…] the noun “stage” was in use a century earlier to mean a horizontal portion of a structure, floor or story of a building or a raised platform constructed to exhibit something for public viewing.” It’s educational content like this that makes CNN indispensable.

  14. DependentSpecific206 on

Staged to reinforce the need for the ballroom construction to go ahead. Well played.

I find it odd that the first time I heard metal detectors called “mags”/magenetometers was out of trumps mouth in some weird disjointed comment a couple of weeks ago , and now the first thing about this event is “man caught by magnetonomters”

Confirmation bias or odd coincidence or a slip of the tongue?

    > … earlier in April 2026 about security screening at events. At a campaign-style appearance, he complained about magnetometers (metal detectors) slowing things down and affecting crowd size and atmosphere. The rough gist of what he said was: metal detectors make it harder for people to get in, create long lines and discourage attendance, and they “take away from the experience” of rallies

  16. Hugglemorris on

The article isn’t about what just happened, it is about the shooting at his campaign rally. I get that not everyone reads past the headline, but the article isn’t even pay gated, so I thought at least some people would have read it.

  17. MechanicalPhish on

Can’t believe everyone is overlooking the obvious explanation that one of Crook’s rounds hit something near Trump and a fragment is what struck Trump’s ear.

  18. Anyone who buys Trump’s shit after the past decade, deserves the worst possible life ever.

  19. Emergency_Accident36 on

This just happened to be published 3 days ago? “The world is a stage”…. therefore I am probably just talking to myself.

  20. How is the only thing between a gunman and the President of the United States a metal detector in the lobby right outside? I don’t understand how that was the checkpoint.

  21. Ultimate-Flexionator on

Compare the Ronald Reagan attempt in every way to the Trump “attempt” and it is clear. THE TRUMP “ATTEMPT” WAS STAGED. And Trump’s secret service was in on it. It’s obvious.

  22. Obvious_Role8849 on

If it was real shouldn’t the mentalist have known something was going to happen? 😆

  23. If it was staged, Trump would have let it slip during a conference, Hegseth would have leaked it on Signal and Patel would have bragged about it during a drunken night.

  24. Considering we are at 3 “attempts” on this guy and none on the last 5 combined. That and each one of these seems a bit fishy. The last legitimate attempt was on Reagan and both him and Brady were shot and injured. Whereas, this guy has the miraculous healing ear and then we never hear about the would be assassins again. Just doesn’t pass the smell test. The next time thy might just have to sacrifice a member of the cabinet if they want people to believe that it’s an actual attempt.

  25. False-Decision630 on

He’s already skipped every correspondence dinner because he can’t handle being teased, let alone open sarcasm, criticism, or mocking. It was “leaked” earlier last week that Trump had decided to use this dinner to go after the fake news and anti American journalists.
His first correspondence dinner ever after receiving push back for his grand and glorious ballroom and now he can claim national security for his vanity. The whole thing stinks worse than his miraculously healing ear after being “shot” with a 5.56.

  26. Rocketparty12 on

As my parents warned me when I was young, if you lie about everything all of the time, when something serious happens and you need people to believe you’re telling the truth, nobody will.

Staged or not, the fact that people do not believe the “official story” is a result of the fact that he’s proven he will lie about anything at any time.

At this point, he’s just “the boy who cried assassination attempt.”

  27. Intro-Nimbus on

How? You plan an attack in such a way that it seems like an actual attempt was made without actually risking the life of the subject. It’s easier but less convincing if the attacker is not identified or apprehended, otherwise you’d need to find a suitable candidate to groom into the role and hope that are able to carry out the instructions without botching the job by actually killing the subject.

  28. WeAreTheLeft on

was it staged? maybe, it’s unclear.

I just have two questions that can’t be squared.

    1) How the hell does his ear “heal” in 72 hours. He’s old as piss and showed no damage to his ear once the bandage came off.

    2) The shooter is reported to have brought a wind meter with him, but somehow brought a gun without a scope and shot using only iron sights.

Personally I think the shooter missed Trump, Trump got hurt in the skrum of secret service and then played up the injury because he understands the optics and how to play a heel from his WWE days.

  29. No_Rhubarb_1717 on

Anyone intelligent enough to want Trump gone knows assassinating him like this will assure his Christ-like status for the maga cult. It’s as fake and dishonest as Trump himself.
