  1. To win 2028, Democrats need to embrace and market some fucking principles instead of assuming the independents know what they are. Democrats have ceded the principled high ground to Republicans because Republicans are explicit about what principles they stand for while Democrats are implicit and talk about boring-ass policy instead.

Principles are the drivers. Policies are side-effects. People vote for principles.

Democrats should steal some principles back from Republicans, too. It’s laughable and ridiculous that Republicans are allowed to cloak themselves in language of patriotism or fiscal responsibility.

Clearly you would enjoy sending the party to doom again because you can’t read the electoral room.

  3. By all means, embrace “woke” policies, but don’t make it the centrepiece of the campaign. People are sick of being forced to listen to morons fight about trans people and DEI. Leave this culture war bullshit in the mid-2010s where it belongs.

  4. Hot_Ambition_6457 on

Its funny to hear the “what is a woman” crowd run in circles when you ask them “what is woke?”.

They seemingly attach  this adjective to everything they oppose as a way to frame it as inherently “bad”. But they can never describe to you what threshold a policy must pass to be “woke”.

It is simply McCarthyism of the 21st century to claim all of your opponents and their policies are ~~communist~~ woke as a way to discredit them for the for the mob of people keen to trample on the less fortunate to maintain their own status.

“Red Scare” now includes the entire color spectrum, as a simple rainbow on a painting you did in 6th grade will ow be levied as proof that you support the “woke agenda” and be barred from public service through threats of violence.

  5. I’m going to give democrats a winning platform in one single Reddit post.

Drop AIPAC. Drop AWBs. Drop this FISA court/Patriot act bullshit. Drop the porn bans and nanny state shit. Increase taxes on the rich. Use those taxes for single payer healthcare.

  6. IllustriousRange226 on

Talk about healthcare, housing and wages.  That’s all people care about.  Everything else is just a footnote.

  7. To win Democrats just need to take their hand off the primaries.

DNC like to say vote Blue no matter who but hope to god its not someone to left.

  8. ice_cool_jello on

They should embrace justice by putting Trump and his cabinet in jail for the crimes they have committed

Woke policies are fine; just stop sounding like a humorless professor or a hall monitor when delivering your message.

Incorporate stuff like defending the rights of ethnic, religious, and sexual minorities into a broader message of “get the government out of our personal lives” instead of juggling every group and trying to make them all feel special.

  10. Ok_Surprise_4090 on

To be clear: Nobody advising the party to avoid “woke” topics represents the voters. They’re largely conservatives who have been driven out of the Republican party by MAGA. We should not, under any circumstances, listen to the people who have more consistently lost to Donald Trump than anyone else.

  11. I could make a case for leaning into patriotism at this precise moment in history. Trump conflated patriotism with white nationalism but has reduced America’s world standing, decimated the national economy, and done the opposite of “make America great.”

Diversity is America – has been from the beginning.

Equality is America – you say, “Liberty and justice for all” daily as children.

Inclusion is America – everybody on the field. The point of a nation is to protect one another: stick together or you will hang separately, promote the general welfare, provide for the common defense.

Having the courage to not let the Republicans define the conversation is essential. People know instinctively that they’re bullies, and we cannot back down or abandon our values. The details of how those values become implemented is a separate matter.

Just be an above average human. Period. We the people aren’t asking for much these days.

The elephant in the room that no one is talking about is this…the Democrat base sucks. They all have their little pet policies and if the Democrat candidate doesn’t check every single box, they don’t show up. If he voted for a crime bill he hates minorities. If he voted against a weak gun bill, he’s an NRA stooge. If he voted for immigration reform, he hates Hispanics. If he voted for an environmental bill, it wasn’t enough and what about this(insert obscure environmental policy here).

Two, young Democrats are idiots. They’ll spend all day on the capitol steps protesting in freezing weather, yet won’t take twenty minutes to vote in the midterm elections.

The Israel thing. Yes what’s happening over there is awful and I don’t like my tax money going over there either, however not voting for Biden over it and allowing Trump to win was idiocy. We all need to have the simple reality check that these two peoples have hated each other since time began and they will never stop into the last one is dead. Yes I want something done about it, but that is going to be a slow process and skipping elections is not the way.

  14. Pothole politics is the way. Do shit for regular Americans and ditch the billionaire cuck routine.

  15. AlwaysPhillyinSunny on

All they need to do is rebrand the focus on inequality through an economic / anti corruption lens.

Gas is high for no reason. Part of the problem is the relationship with Israel and AIPAC.

The Trumps are lining their pockets while you get healthcare taken away.

AI is running wild and corporations are doing whatever they want with data centers while you can’t afford groceries.

Rampant corruption is why so much energy goes into suppressing the Epstein files, but they can’t lift a finger to help citizens.

Doge cut government spending and what was the result? Eric trump gets a $25M pentagon contract but we can’t pay air traffic controllers.

  16. Public Option, not M4A. M4A is effectively a corporate handout that passes the majority of healthcare costs from employers to taxpayers. Capital gains tax should be treated the same as income tax, wealth should be taxed the moment it’s leveraged as a loan or for any real asset. Israel needs to be relegated back to junior partner status, ASAP. Woke progeams and values were never the problem, selective application of the ideals were the issue. More males in teaching, White guys in Sociology. Seperation of church and state is nonnegotiable and regressive ideas are not acceptable, regardless of religious affiliation, race or gender.

  17. Its the economy stupid. Standing for those things is fine but theyre not going to persuade the masses without addressing what affects the masses

  18. siouxbee1434 on

Who is pushing Dems to avoid “woke”? Ah, that’s the question. Who benefits and who pays-start there, always

  19. TheLightDances on

There is nothing woke about rule of law, punishing corruption, prosecuting war crimes and so on.

  20. I’ll give them don’t run on “woke” policies, even if that’s just a buzz word for “policies that don’t discriminate.” But they need to run on prosecuting every insider trade, every illegal act, every bit of fraud. And not slaps on the wrist. They need to run on making the people in this administration and those that have profited off of it hurt so badly financially and legally that they can’t recover.

  21. Gold_Drummer_4077 on

*rubs temples* why are people so annoying about the word “woke”. It’s the exact same thing as being humanist or humane. WTF is wrong with people? Just treat people like they’re human and not some kind of thing to sweep away like trash.

  22. This is the playbook on how to actually lose an election.

D remains out of touch with the majority of America. This is just an average redditor wish list.

  23. ThatDudeJuicebox on

Give me a third party already. Both these clown parties are on the same team behind closed doors.

  24. DeLoresDelorean on

How about embracing justice in the sense that the supreme court, republicans in congress, and billionaires break the law, with impunity, on a daily basis, and nothing happens to them.

George W Bush should’ve been arrested, bankers in 08 should’ve been arrested. But nope. Kumbayas and rinse and repeat every other 8 years.

  25. Its very simple, fight for the working class and advocate for freedom and justice for all. Mahmdani crushed his opponents with this message. Our problem is the our corporate democrats don’t believe in anything and are bought and sold by oligarchs and lobbyist (in particular AIPAC and Israel).

  26. Brock_Youngblood on

As MAGA, I completely agree with this.  I want Trump to have a 4th term. Y’all need to double down on pronouns.  Voters love it

  27. How about moving forward in the interest of *unity* and *coming together*, and slow walk throwing a bunch of rapist pedophiles in prison?
