  1. A massive drought coupled with political mismanagement might fully deplete water in a major city: neither in West Asia nor the Horn of Africa, but in the United States of America.

According to Inside Climate News, the city of Corpus Christi, Texas could soon completely out of water in the next year. It’s the eighth largest city in Texas, and a major industrial node in the Gulf Coast. Its water infrastructure provides access to over 500,000 Texans, as well as the major chemical plants, oil facilities, and plastics factories which call the Gulf region home.

  2. You mean the reservoir is nearly empty due to oil and gas consumption of massive amounts of water. The state chose industry over people. But go TEXAS.

Talk to the pipeliners and rig pigs for a solution. They’ve got a solution for everything.

Also, Texas has Elon. He knows everything. Make him fix it.

  4. Why is rainwater collection not a part of the solution? Corpus gets 30 inches of rain per year and with an average 2500 sq foot roof that’s almost 50000 gallons of water collected from an average home. Many people in Terlingua TX depend almost entirely on rainwater and we only get 11” per year on average.

  5. Instead of mitigating loss or seeking anything resembling a solution the town, residents and of course petrochemical plants, are drilling wells to chase after the last remaining drops of water available.

    It’s all so stupid.

Prioritizing profit over people has fully cooked the area’s water supply. And though they saw it coming and though it’s all turned dire, they continue to have wildly stupid priorities.

    My sympathy is unavailable.
