Why is this even news?
Trump has always wanted to be admired/popular/current but was without success until the producers of *The Apprentice* could not find a successful businessman to be the central character and so they fabricated Trump as that man. Using that TV persona, the producers introduced colorful characters who were interesting, odd, funny, even bizarre, all photogenic, and wrote a script with drama, tension, cliffhangers, heroes and villains.
Trump just copied their playbook and now we are in the second season of The Trump Presidency. This newest character is what he thinks will keep viewership tuned in.
