Eh. As if the center right media weren’t lining up to bend the knee once they found out about the SS tat. That first NYT piece after LOL.

We await the inevitable sex scandal from the guy who can’t keep it in his pants for even one year of marriage.

    >Despite polling showing voters are eager to throw out the GOP and put in Democrats in the midterms, approval for the Democratic Party is at historic lows. Liberals aren’t going to settle for what’s become the rote Democratic response to Republican misbehavior: objecting on process grounds when out of power, half-assedly pushing ineffective institutional fixes once they reclaim Congress, and then brushing it all under the rug when they win the White House. This time they want accountability, none of the “looking forward, not backward” that Barack Obama placated the base with in early 2009.

  3. Truly insane the best two put forward in a massive chance to pickup a senate seat were a dude with a Nazi tatto and an 80 year old.

  4. SurroundTiny on

I’d rather he does the same thing to the Republican before we do the Snoopy Happy Dance

  5. Whether this is good or bad depends on how he’ll do in the general. Purple Wisconsin is a good reference point. On the one hand, they elected Tammy Baldwin, but the most direct analogy is how Mandela Barnes also drove all of his more moderate opponents out before the primary in a purple state and proceeded to hand a very winnable Senate seat to the Republicans.

  6. Gram Platner handed Centrist Dems a key state in the process of winning the Senate as he proves that Dems and Independents want change and candidates that believe in the policy they espouse

  7. atrophiedambitions on

This pattern is predictable at those point.

Centrist dems lose when they shouldn’t. Progressive dems win even when odds are long and they’re outspent

  8. AncientBee5348 on

So many of you shouldn’t be this cocky and showing so much disrespect to anyone that is skeptical of him especially with the crazy number of red flags he has and so much dirt republicans might have on him.

  9. Yall are walking onto another Fetterman situation. Are we really pretending that a guy with a Nazi chest tattoo will stay true to their position? How many people do a 180 like that?

Flip the seat but he’s not the flex that it’s being portrayed.

  10. Fuck Platner, fuck the Intercept, and fuck us for heading down this self-destructive path. Motherfucker goes on neo-nazi podcasts and says he’s a big fan. Anyone who believes he was ignorant about his tattoo for the entire duration of it being on his body is a fucking moron.

  11. It makes me very uncomfortable how many of my fellow progressives are 100% fine with nominating a guy who had a Nazi tattoo for 20 years

  12. The fact that the best the Dems could put up is a former Blackwater mercenary with a Nazi tattoo and a 78 year old governor is an indictment of both the centrists and the progressives. How the fuck is that the best either side could find?

  13. dudenurse13 on

Such an indictment not only of Chuck Schumers lack of influence but also his lack of ability to read the room. He handpicked Janet mills at 78 years old to run this race. He could have propped up any younger person who would have been a decent challenger to Planter but instead he went with the only person centrist enough for him.

  14. Cosmic-Space-Octopus on

The people refusing to support him because of a tattoo he had covered up and apologized for are not serious voters. There is no such thing as a perfectly pure person and to be human is to make mistakes. It’s how we deal with those mistakes that determines what kind of human we are.

The one singular red flag among a sea of green flags and it’s all everyone talks about. That sounds like desperation. I know AIPAC does not like him at all due to his support for the Palestinians. Makes sense that AIPAC would send their bots after him.

Our Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has Nazi tattoos and he refuses to cover them up nor condemn them. Yet AIPAC doesn’t touch him. Platner apologized, got them covered up, and has to the actions to prove he is and has been doing better.

What people don’t seem to grasp is Graham Platner doesn’t come across as fake or polished like traditional politicians. Even Medidi Hasan noticed this, as he actually and genuinely appears to be one of the most down to earth political candidates ever and appears sincere in everything he does. And he just doesn’t say things, he actually does them which is more than a lot of other politicians.

  15. Watch this be another fetterman, the nazi chest tattoo and his response to it gives me a bad feeling. I hope I’m wrong. But his own staff resigned and called him out on it.

    https://newrepublic.com/post/202083/graham-platner-knew-nazi-tattoo

Genevieve McDonald, Platner’s former campaign director, who resigned last week, suggested Tuesday that the candidate must have known about the image’s origins.
“Graham has an antisemitic tattoo on his chest. He’s not an idiot, he’s a military history buff,” she wrote in a [post on Facebook](https://x.com/burgessev/status/1980696432031289806). “Maybe he didn’t know it when he got it, but he got it years ago and should have had it covered up because he knows damn well what it means.”

McDonald, a former state representative, blamed the “D.C. consultant class” for the public relations disaster that could cost Democrats the Senate election. “The vault is open for the GOP to crush any fucking dreams we had in the general,” she wrote.

Susan Collins is a skin suit, literally not a single thing good about that corpo.

  17. Hopeful_Oil_2907 on

This is all he did btw:

    • Wore a Nazi “Totenkopf” SS tattoo on his chest for 18 years (defended it on Reddit in 2019)

    • Blamed rape victims: “don’t get so f*cked up they wind up having sex with someone they don’t mean to”

    • Said rural white Americans “actually are” racist and stupid

    • Asked “why don’t black people tip?” as a serious question

    • Used homophobic slurs (“f*gs”)

    • Called all police officers “bastards”

    • Called himself a “communist” (but kept his guns for “the fascists”)

    • Praised a Hamas raid as “well executed”

    • Promoted content from a neo-Nazi Holocaust denier

    • Sat for an interview with an antisemitic conspiracy theorist, called himself a “longtime fan”

    • Called Jesus a “zombie” and the Virgin Mary a “skank”

    • Defended urinating on corpses

    • Claimed he bought his home with VA support (actually received a $200k loan from his wealthy father)

    • Deleted his Reddit account only when he decided to run for Senate

You can fact check this one by one if you dont believe me

  18. This is the new centre. The AIPAC establishment Dems are just as right as Republicans.

  19. Trathnonen on

More like, Graham Platner was the clear candidate before the DNC stooges got worried he might not play ball with their contrived opposition platform and decided to sling a shit load of money on a political hit job and field a dinosaur against him in the effort to either hand the senate seat to a Republican or to their fossilized tool. The Democratic party is not a leftist party it is a corporate instrument of false opposition. Susan Collins is in fact their poster boy. They’ll wring their hands and be concerned about all this evil shit happening but they’ll vote it right on through Every. Single. Time.

Vote the incumbents out, get new people in. At the very least it’ll cost these bitches money to bribe new people.

  20. Traditional Democrat nominees are machine candidates which ignore the people’s choice. Clinton was a flawed candidate. Biden’s second attempt was flawed then Harris was put forward without listening to the people.

The people need and want candidates like Planner who isn’t a millionaire. Think about this … when was the last time a politician gased up their own car or actually shopped for groceries? Or did those things normal people do.

Most candidates from both parties live in a world none of us can even imagine and that is much of our problem.

  21. lovelybitofsquirrel3 on

I’d rather it be a real progressive and not the Nazi tattoo guy. Fetterman 2.0.

  22. DragonflyGlade on

And will now probably get a bruising defeat by Collins, unfortunately.
