We will see historic high gas prices before the end of the year. Trump did this and he did it on his own.

  2. What was all of this talk of American energy independence? You mean that a commodity sells for the highest price on offer in a global marketplace?

    Who’d have thunk it…

  3. American right: bomb school children, fine. Bomb innocent fisherman, ok. Kidnap a foreign leader, sure. Cut off USAID resulting in hundreds of thousands of preventable deaths, no problem. Cut funds for cancer research, AIDS prevention, environmental protection, all good. Kill the department of education, cool. Force women to carry their rapists baby to term under threat of arrest and prison, works for me. Absolute and open corruption / lawlessness from the highest office, nice. Blatantly unconstitutional political persecution of perceived enemies, awesome. Complete partisan control of the judiciary, great.

$5 a gallon – oh hell no! I didn’t vote for this!! …But this is also okay.

Time ran out a while ago. The problem is physical. Tankers take 4-6 weeks to get Middle East crude onto global markets. The last deliveries arrived in the 2nd week of April.

Since then the global oil industry has been making up the difference from storage stocks. But at a net deficit of ~ 10 million bpd. Those will become critically low by mid-May *even if* the conflict had *already* resolved.

  5. Trump doesnt care about gas (or other) prices as it doesnt affect him. Trump cares about looking like the “tough guy” who always wins (narrator: he doesnt win). Will gas and other prices go higher? YES. Will anything happen to Trump/the regime because of those higher prices? NO! All indicators, so far, say this is the new normal – get use to it.

I mean the MAGA was like : High gas price is good! We are making so much money!

I don’t understand it, but seems they are happy to pay more on the gas pump now?

  7. 2LiveGucciCrew on

All these articles are beyond boring. They start from a premise that no longer exists. A premise of this being a normal reality.

This is every day now for Trump. What options is he running out of?

He can rig the mid terms.

He has judicial nominees who won’t even say its illegal to run for a 3rd term.

    He has the SCOTUS.

He has the billionaires, media and military.

We are past normal. You and I might care about fuel costs.

    He doesn’t.

His base is convinced Iran would have nuked us if he hadn’t bombed them. They will cling to his shit forever.

  9. Certain_Event558 on

How about telling his oil buddies to lower their profit margins a tad bit .

  10. I’m sure he will find a way to blame the trans community and his gullible devotees will believe him.

He has plenty of options! Here’s the top ten:

    1) Release the Epstein Files

  13. Assuming the war continues…

Realistically we’re looking at a nation wide average of around $6 a gallon ($8 in California), as AI continues to take away jobs and government spending on social programs continue to get cut. Travel will become a luxury, interest rates will spike as the Fed attempts to curb inflation, and food prices will surge upward.

it’s the 1970’s all over again. Welcome Stagflation!

  14. Conservative_Trader on

He did say he would ask the oil companies to lower the price and they would listen

  15. chatterwrack on

Iran has the capability of remove Trump from power simply by keeping gas prices up and causing his party to lose the next election. Iran will take the pain gladly.

It’s going to get worse as well. Along with his not restocking the Strategic Petroleum Reserve when prices were lower, even with his lies since April 2025 that gas was $1.89 a gallon. Plus, come harvest season, we’re really going to see prices jump on everything. First because of diesel fuel, second because of fertilizer prices skyrocketing ( if they can even get fertilizer) third because the labor force to harvest the crops are way down and fourth, transportation costs will still be way up. It amazes me that Tim Scott came out yesterday and claimed gas prices and prices on everything else were coming down, but until Trump supporters are literally hungry and broke from not being able to afford gas, groceries, electricity, or are part of the near 50% rise in 90 day delinquency on credit cards and car loan payments, they’ll continue to praise him as doing a great job. “Best president ever!” 🙄

  17. Upbeat-Cockroach-393 on

There is obviously no logic nor any cogent thought behind any of this. It’s rural MAGA constituents who are going to be pummeled the hardest by gas prices, diesel prices, fertilizer prices, and the attendant inflationary spikes to food that are going to hit this summer.

There is some story in the MSM about this war somehow is preventing Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, which our own intelligence agencies do not support. This is Israeli propaganda that fuels this right wing rhetoric that is leading us off an economic cliff.

This clown show can’t stop this derailed train now, even if they had the will and intellect to do so. We’re going into the midterms with gas at probably $5 (minimum), diesel at $7, food inflation around 10% with supply disruptions and thin shelf inventory the norm. Food banks will be overrun this summer (I volunteer at two local food pantries and we literally cannot keep up and we know we can’t scale and it’s only the beginning of May).

School starting in August will be plagued by high diesel costs, with poorer districts probably having to cut bus transport, which may block kids from physically getting to school. These are probably kids who also rely upon free school breakfast and lunches as their main nutrition sources. This will be a huge issue for rural red states.

And…. The social safety net cuts from the “BBB” haven’t really kicked in yet, which will further drive hunger and the collapse of the rural healthcare systems, again which will hit these rural MAGA voters in red states the hardest.

It’s incredible to me to witness these low education, low information, high susceptibility to hyperbolic propaganda voters just happily vote their own extinction so that they can “own the libs.” I guess they’re referring to college educated blue state or blue city voters who will drive their EV, perhaps stay more local for their summer vacation, cut down on their own consumerism, but still are able to eat and access healthcare.

I do not understand this MAGA constituency. Obviously they have sold themselves to this cult and are gleefully it would seem ready to sacrifice themselves to this orange clown. 🤡

Create chaos, grift, move along. To get out of Epstein it was Iran. To get out of Iran, it’s more vanity construction projects and taking over Cuba. It’s a simple, traceable formula and that’s everybody’s problem.

  19. Democrats take note: people care about the bottom line. Don’t talk about fixing healthcare or incremental improvement within the system. Fucking burn it down and replace it with something that works.

Don’t promise to expand educational opportunities for an additional 6.3% of graduating seniors. Make it free.

People want fixes for real problems that they actually face. People easily believe immigrants are stealing their childcare resources or something when childcare is expensive. Hard to believe it when it’s free.

    Make it work for people.

I hate that this is what finally might do it. Not the lies or rape or murders… just that it is more expensive to get around.

They’ll blame Biden for not attacking Iran when it should have and the needle won’t move

  22. Well, what does a country expect when it chooses a sweaty, lying, grifting, Putin loving, traitorous, pedophile as their president? Still not so sure the 2024 vote count wasn’t tampered with by Musk and we’re going through this when we actually don’t deserve it.

  23. Resistiane on

Lol, what backlash? His supporters don’t actually care. They may not be able to afford it but, “it would’ve been worse under Harris” or “it WAS worse under Biden” is their only talking point about it. They don’t like I but, they certainly don’t blame Trump for it.

  24. SirRichardLove on

4.30 a gallon average is not even the height yet. Wait until 6 a gallon hits, it will cause panic.

Trump has lost this war and he knows it. Iran won’t have to give up shit. We wasted 50 billion dollars on a trump bunch that went no where but killing civilians.

  25. tsilihin666 on

Trump doesn’t care. They’re rigging the elections so none of this matters to him. He’s got the entire government working for him like it’s is a fucking department store and he’s the owner. Gas could hit $50 a gallon and he’d tell you suck his dick and then show you an AI photo of the new ballroom and say it’s now costing $7 billion and no one will do anything. We’ll end up just like Russia was directly after the fall of the USSR. Get ready for generational misery if you’re not already wealthy. They don’t want us here anymore.

  26. Djangowasilentj on

I think Trump should refocus on the Epstein files… I suspect if the 3m or so documents still hiddenbu the DoJ are made public, no one will talk about Iran for at least a few weeks.

    Epstein.

Excuse me. I’m just here to remind everyone about Epstein and to upvote comments which include “Epstein.”
