    >Blanche said “anybody who tries to put forward some narrative that this is just about seashells or something to the contrary is missing the point.”

    >CBS’s chief Washington correspondent questioned acting Attorney General Todd Blanche over the indictment of ex-FBI Director James Comey when a MAGA influencer hadn’t been prosecuted for posting a nearly identical act in 2022.

    >“Let’s do a compare and contrast, Mr. Blanche,” Major Garrett said Wednesday on “CBS Mornings.” “In 2022, someone well known in right-wing circles, Jack Posobiec, posted on X, ‘86 46.’ He did not take it down. Mr. Comey has done both of those things. The Biden Justice Department never prosecuted him. By the standard of that grand jury, Jack Posobiec should face charges as well.”

    >Comey was targeted this week by President Donald Trump’s Department of Justice over a since-deleted post on Instagram that showed seashells arranged in the numbers “86 47.” Comey, who oversaw an investigation of Trump’s alleged 2016 campaign ties to Russia, also was indicted last year and accused of lying during a congressional hearing.

    >The number 86 is commonly used in restaurant kitchens to signal staff to discard a dish, but the DOJ alleged Comey’s post signified a threat against Trump, the 47th president.

    >Several users online have pointed out that Posobiec, a MAGA pundit, made a very similar post, “86 46,” which can also be interpreted as a threat to the 46th president, Joe Biden.

    >The right-wing influencer addressed his 2022 social media post on Wednesday, telling Steve Bannon he already discussed the matter with his family and legal team.

    >“I am prepared at this time to fully turn myself into State’s Evidence and cooperate in any way with the Department of Justice and testify against James Comey,” Posobiec said.

    >Garrett asked Trump’s acting attorney general, “Will the Justice Department pursue that case, because they sound very similar?”

    >“That’s just completely not true,” Blanche responded. “That’s not how a grand jury does its work. They don’t just look at a single image and then say, ‘OK, yes, we’ll indict’ or ‘OK, no, we won’t indict.’ They do an investigation.”

    >Blanche defended the indictment against the Trump critic, claiming “it depends on the facts of every case.”

    >“So you cannot compare, ‘Well, what happened last time? What happened this time?’ Every investigation is different. You know that. The American people know that,” Blanche continued. “A lot of factors going into whether someone should or should not be charged. The mere fact there’s a similar photo posted or similar statement made. That’s true every day.”

    >Comey maintained his innocence shortly after being indicted, telling followers in a Substack video he’s “still not afraid.’

    >“Well, they’re back. This time about a picture of seashells on a North Carolina beach over a year ago, and this won’t be the end of it,” he said.

    >However, according to Blanche, “anybody who tries to put forward some narrative that this is just about seashells or something to the contrary is missing the point. You cannot threaten the president of the United States.”

Maybe I skimmed this too fast but his ramblings sound like all they have is “deep state” conspiracy nonsense.

  3. The “missing the point” line is such a classic way to dodge a question when you know you do not have a real answer. If the posts are nearly identical then the legal standard should be identical too, period. It is wild that we are at a point where the DOJ is just being used as a weapon to target specific narratives while giving a pass to everyone else. It feels like the rules just do not apply to certain people anymore and it is honestly kind of terrifying for the future of the country.

  4. The FBI is hilariously corrupt.

They have time to go after a seashell case but can’t seem to prosecute anyone in the biggest sex trafficking ring in American history.

This is so fucking stupid, I ran bars and restaurants for 30 years. 86 means to be out of an item, or in Comey’s context, to never let a problem guest back in the bar. Trumps role is the belligerent pussy grabbing drunk. We reserved 86 for people who cannot behave well in public, are unhinged, predatory sex freaks and the like.

“Deep six” is a term for murder or eliminating a person. Common in gangster movies, etc. These people are so motherfucking stupid.

  6. How did these people grow without spine? Evolution theory does want you know the trick.

What about all those morons who drive around in pickup trucks with an imagine of Biden gaged and bound on the back?

  8. Northern_Ice_2501 on

Instead of trying to define the meaning of 86, can we define what is meant by “Happy Birthday..and may every day be another wonderful secret”.

  9. ScientistNational363 on

The DOJ and FBI have been put in an impossible position by Trump. The reputational damage is irreparable.

    It’s diffe(R)ent here, you wouldn’t un(D)erstand.

I just don’t see how we come back as a country with people who openly make up insane narratives to get angry at Democrats about then use that to persecute people or make legislation. Like obviously mistaking 86 for assassinate or trans athletes or roving bands of immigrants eating pets or Democrats putting litter boxes in schools or forced trans conversion therapy or any other insane thing Democrats have been accused of by conservatives.

Like how do you even more forward?

  11. SchreinerEK on

This is not a serious nor legitimate investigation. This is a message from the administration that they can go after you for whatever they want, no matter how fucking stupid it is, while themselves getting away with the worst crimes.

  12. Responsible_Rock_573 on

Given what is happening.. The Maryland AG, the state in which Posobiec lives should file a indictment against him.

  13. AustinBaze on

They are just so blatantly hypocritical. Their hypocrisy is outstripped only by their incompetence and total lack of self-awareness. This POS “case” is a triumph of ham sandwich indictment. It will never be presented inside of a courtroom. 8647. Like much of America and the world, I look forward to reading a page one obituary without tears.

  14. Comey is an enemy of President Trump. THAT is why this ridiculous Attorney General is attacking him. Todd Blanche was Trump personal attorney and should have never been allowed to be the United States Attorney General while Trump is President. Corruption!

  15. Oh well thank god! I’m sure “grilling” them will totally do something! Finger wagging always stops criminals

  16. Why bother trying to hide it? It’s all a personal vendetta from Trump. If they poll anyone remotely posing attention they’ll all say the same thing even the people among the MAGA movement.

  17. YouWereBrained on

Notice how the person who questioned Blanche brought up another Democrat doing it (Gretchen Whitmer)…but not Jack Posobiec doing it?

The fascist mind simply has no need for internal consistency whatsoever. Consistency is an impediment to their true goal, which is eliminating dissent.

The fascist will use arguments and ideas in the same manner as weapons in a video game: cycle through their inventory until they find one that is effective against the target they currently face, then shoot until the target stops moving. As soon as the weapon/argument stops working, it is immediately unequipped, and they pull out another one, even if that one directly contradicts the first. The contradiction itself is a useful weapon, because it angers liberals. The only objective is to make their enemy stop talking and give up, so they can go back to abusing power.

They know it’s going nowhere. They know they’re full of shit. It’s just a way to cost Comey (and the taxpayers) some money and punish their perceived enemies (and the taxpayers indiscriminately.)

We are in a kakistocracy right now. One of our own making. A third of the voters wanted (or thought they wanted) this, and another third couldn’t be bothered to stop it. the name of this sub is derived from the word “polites” which means “citizen,” so we need to remember that whenever we come here to commiserate, we also need to accept our share of the blame. (I voted for Harris, so my share is pretty small, but some of y’all need some introspection.)

The answer is Trump wants to get him.

That’s it. Spite. There’s no legal case. It’s beyond ridiculous.

DOJ and FBI should be investigated for RICO violations, is there anyone left honest in office?

  24. mittenknittin on

    Essentially, “That’s different.”

He’s trying to claim this isn’t just about the seashell photo. I can’t wait to see what they supposedly have.

    Does he drink, too?

I’m having problems following your government on this. I have an alcoholic responsible for war, one for state police and one on the hightest court of the land. Then there was the health minister bragging about toilet drugs.

Are there others I need to learn about?

This supposes both were brought before a grand jury, but Posobiec’s wasn’t. So yes, we can absolutely point out the fact that they’re being treated differently. If it’s a former Republican who’s critical of Trump, charges are brought. If it’s a current Republican who’s critical of Biden, it’s totally okay.
