Absolutely disgusting. And you already know the comments are gonna be a dumpster fire of people blaming the victims instead of the mob. Some days it’s hard to feel like humanity is making any progress at all.

    This is a little old.

It was described as a “rape festival”. Women and girls were ordered to stay inside during the
    event by officials.

You should be disgusted by this fully. It actually gets worse.

    > In a statement, they described the Alue-Do festival as a fertility ritual, saying symbolic acts such as dragging and pouring sand on individuals are traditionally meant to invoke blessings for couples struggling to conceive.

Putting sand inside womens vagina’s is becoming somewhat common in the area. Its extremely dangerous for obvious reasons, but because of the additional bleeding the spread of aids is insane.

  6. Is it cultural though? Maybe we’re just looking at through a coloniser lense?

  7. Good thing Western countries are importing these men into civil society en mass, shouldn’t be a problem at all!

Omg i was just reading about this! It’s actually worse than the headline makes it sound – this is part of a fertility festival. I guess the tradition is supposed to be to throw sand or something on women to bless them with children? I mean, i dont care how people try ti justify this, it’s a rape festival, full stop.
