Children’s aid system faces heightened calls for change after Ontario couple’s murder, torture convictions

There is an overrepresentation of indigenous children in the Canadian foster system. You cannot convince me that this is not by design, as it’s biased towards indigenous communities.

What happened to these two boys is tragic. And it’s unfortunately not an isolated incident. It’s just the story that made the news. It’s not a system designed to help these kids thrive, even if in theory, it means well. In some cases, infants are taken from their mothers right after they are born because some doctor or nurse with bias in their mind already deemed the parents unfit.

The foster system just sets these kids up for failure. Something needs to change.
