I love how everyone in the hantavirus news post “cruise ships don’t have outbreaks all the time.”

See every ship having an outbreak.

Cruise ships are just floating daycare for adults. One person skips washing their hands once and suddenly half the boat is fighting for their life

Ah back to the good ‘ole shittin yourself all over the poop deck type of cruise instead of the deadly hantavirus.

We have vaccines for that, why do we only vaccinate the “new people” (newborns) n some selected countries?

Cruise ships seem miserable. Stuck in a contained area, sea sickness, crazy people, and shitting all over the place. No thanks!

I don’t think I’ve ever known someone that didn’t get sick in some way while or after being on a cruise. I sure there’s redeeming qualities of cruises but no thanks.

I actually really enjoyed the cruise I went on last year, but there were specific staff who’s job it was to stand around handwashing stations or offer hand sanitizer, and others who just cleaned and wiped things down. I’d go again but only on a big name cruise company.

Pretty sure cholera is next on the menu at your local cruise ship.

  9. Interesting gross thing is that the typical way it is transmitted is because people don’t wash their hands after pooping. So all of those cruise ships with noro outbreaks are because infected people are walking around with poopy hands and contaminating things.

As an avid environmentalist, I have a huge disdain for cruise ships. As a huge adventure tourist that tries to connect to local culture and is well aware of how fortunate I am, I have a huge disdain for cruise ships. As a person with terrible OCD and anxiety, I abhor cruise ships. As a scuba diver, fuck cruise ships. And as a person that despises wealth and ostentatious displays I also find cruise ships tacky and disgusting. As a germaphobe, I dont even consider cruise ships as a viable option and find it a deal breaker in a relationship. I realize there is some level of irony/hypocrisy/nonsense aversion but I still cant stand cruise ships as anything but a wasteful excursion. Maybe when im older and less mobile I’ll change my tune, but truthfully I doubt it.

  11. If you’ve never been on a cruise, people are fuckin nasty. The amount of people that take a shit and walk straight out the stall are why you have norovirus outbreaks.

Norovirus is like having liquids explode out of every hole on your body.

    It sucks

  13. People on cruise ships just run around the ship touching every surface then wiping their forehead, itching their eyes, picking their nose, pulling something out of their teeth then scratching their ass before repeating the process.

I had the Norovirus when I was younger and it was by far the worst thing I’ve experienced – even more than Covid. My immediate family caught it from my grandfather when he was in hospital and within the next 24 hours everyone was bedbound with absolutely agonising stomach ache. My grandmother was stuck on the toilet with it coming out of both ends literally nonstop for about twelve hours overnight on the first day.

I didn’t get it as bad as my family did in the end but not only did it leave me with IBS (or rather, probably ‘set it off’ according to the doctor) but I spent literally years after being paranoid I had it again everytime my IBS flared or I caught a cold.

So? I thought everyone knew cruise ships were floating petri dishes. This is not a novel occurrence on a cruise ship or on land for that matter, how is it even news. “*People Get Sick* Update at 11.00” lol

  16. Adventurous_Bit1325 on

I’ve never been on a cruise ship. Also, I never will be on a cruise ship.

  17. Plague ships, I swear that’s all cruise ships are. Never, ever, ever going on one.

  18. what are the historical, statistical chances that you’ll end up in one of these situations if you go on a cruise?

  19. RetiredGuru on

At least these people have the opportunity to say “at least we haven’t got that other virus.” unusual.

  20. cruise ships needs to be banned. Pure waste of money, food, ressources and on top of that great way to start an epidemic.

  21. ink_spittin_beaver on

Generalizing here, but the types of people that go on cruises deserve it. Cruise ships are a global cancer.
