    >Plans for a A$1.5bn (£802m) Trump Tower on Australia’s Gold Coast have been scrapped just three months after they were announced, with the developer blaming the US president’s “toxic brand” and the Iran war for the project’s collapse.

    >Altus Property Group chief executive David Young said the Iran war had made the Trump brand increasingly difficult to work with in Australia.

    >”Let’s just say that with the Iran war and everything else, the Trump brand was increasingly toxic in Australia,” he said.

I would argue it was toxic before the Iran war too, but still better late than never I guess.

Trump is almost universally hated in Australia.

You could brand a public urinal after him and I’m sure it would do a great trade but that’s it.

The Unions would have made it very difficult for the builders anyway

America will have many, many such forcibly-labelled objects being scrapped soon. So Australia: do it joyfully – celebrate your freedom, and let this remind you to never let it fade.

For our part, we’ll surely have De-Trumpstein festivities, to replace each sinister, threatening mugshot with new, uplifting tributes to strength, resiliency, and renewal of national pride.

  5. The orange man is trying to get a trump tower built in Tblisi. I hope it also fails.

I don’t think it was scrapped, as much as it was never going to be built in the first place. The developer had a history of bankruptcies and was never going to get this project off the ground in the first place.

  7. Good for Australia, I know for a fact those guys hate Trump, most of them anyway.

So I guess we’re invading Australia then at some point. Kind of figures, they do have alot of gold.

It was never going to be built, it was just a grift by the developer

Trump should stick to countries that speak Russian in their native tongues.

  11. Wha?? Australians didnt want all this cool Trump stuff we have? I mean, not Trump phones, but maybe some Trump water?

Looks like the ‘Art of the Deal’ didn’t translate well to Australian.

  13. It was never going to happen anyway. It was just a way for the developer to get their name in the news, they had no experience doing anything close to a high rise.

    I’m so happy.

Most of us hate Trump over here. A Trump Tower, after everything so far, was nothing but a brain dead idea to begin with.
