  1. My parents used to cruise a lot. They’d always come home with something awful, floating Petri dishes!

I love how the media is just now covering these massive outbreaks on cruise ships because of hantavirus.

Curious how cruise line recover from the bad publicity.

  3. More than 1,700 passengers and crew, most of them British and Irish, have been confined to the cruise ship Ambition in Bordeaux, France, after around 50 people developed symptoms of a suspected norovirus outbreak. The illness, which causes vomiting and diarrhoea, is being investigated by French health authorities, and enhanced cleaning measures have been put in place. The incident follows the death of an elderly passenger, although officials have not confirmed whether the death was linked to the outbreak.

  4. The wild part about cruise ships is that once a stomach bug gets onboard theres basically nowhere to escape.

You’re sleeping a few metres from strangers, touching the same railings, eating buffet food and breathing recycled air for days. One person having a rough 24 hours can suddenly turn into 1000 people questioning every life decision that led them onto a floating hotel.

  5. Eh, so now everytime someone has a bad case of shits on a cruise ship – it will be heavily reported because media are in “increase panic” mode.

This is so gross bc it means people aren’t washing their hands after pooping. Basic hygiene is so uncommon now omfg

  7. Even if there weren’t outbreaks of illnesses on cruise ships, you could never convince me to go on one.

I have been on several cruises and I always avoid the buffet. I just stick to the main dining rooms and specialty restaurants. Haven’t gotten sick yet knock on wood.

  9. Oh, we can hold these fuckers, but we release everyone with the hantavirus to fly home and create the new plague!? Our world is doomed.

Who is going in all these cruises? I assumed after covid they’d have gone extinct. How many outbreaks have to happen before people stop sequestering themselves on a boat?

  11. Where are the bot cruise line glazers who kept calling me stupid for not wanting to ride on cruises due to illness and disease spreading? Post all the stupid studies that conveniently don’t mention that their studies only cover REPORTED outbreaks. Can’t beat the headlines every cruise season about 1000 of people being stuck on cruises because of disease outbreaks.

Bruh, as someone who worked on cruise ships for years let me tell you, norovirus is nothing out of the ordinary on a cruise ship.

It happens every single cruise, I had it many times, shit quite literally happens lol

Also another fun or not fun fact – people die on cruise ships almost every cruise. We once had a family who boarded with their elderly family member for a 21 day cruise, the guy died on the first day and he was kept on board until the end because you can’t just unload a dead body in any port.

Ships are the best places for viruses to spread.
