They kinda already said they were diluting the gas to keep prices from rising too fast didn’t they? Theres already been a few places in my city putting their thumb on the scale to get more money out of you (they have already been reported but its a problem that is likely to get worse)

This is the problem with software, largely modern software. All this infrastructure runs operating systems and libraries that may contain exploits. Once an exploit is found, these infrastructures rarely if ever get patched since it can be an utter nightmare and most of the time, not even possible.
Countries will need to implement legislation to streamline these updates. Enforce updates at the risk of suspension or fees.

I’ve seen a few comments on other subs about stations running out of gas or out of one particular kind of gas. I was thinking it’s probably people fuelling up more often to avoid being jacked as the prices rise but now I wonder if it’s because the stations didn’t know the tanks were getting low?

Back when I pumped gas in NJ we had to stick the tanks and read the pumps twice a day to gauge how much was sold and how much was left. But hooray for the tech bros who automated that job.
