    >Democrats, then, who will publicly rage that the war on Iran endangers public welfare, costs taxpayers billions, and undermines long-term US “security” objectives, yet remain staunch allies of Israel committed to subsidizing its arms transfers, prove themselves incapable of recognizing their own political reality. **To say they have lost sight of their own constituencies, if not captured by Zionist PAC donor interests, would be an understatement.**

We have been fed lies for years about how Israel is such a great ally and protector of peace in the middle east. But the mask is fully off and we all see Israel for what it is, a genocidal regime. But AIPAC has many politicians bought and paid for and it is more obvious today than it has ever been.

Zionism is a disease of the mind and needs to end.

  3. Democrats are mostly just Republicans lite at this point outside of the few progressives.

  4. Don’t think the Democrats are going to give up that sweet sweet donor money.

I just wasted ten minutes of my life looking at that poll the article cited. Whoever put it together is a halfwit

I have to keep telling myself that most Jews are nice people, but the genocide in Israel is making it harder and harder.

  7. Suspicious_Dust4896 on

Mostly because they are being paid too much by Israel to notice what their voters want. Yet another reason the DNC (along with the GOP) needs to be destroyed.

We’ve been scammed by a a stage show between republicans and democrats for a long time. They pretend to be political opposites but in fact they are one and the same. Owned by the billionaires, Epstein’s, and Israel.

I understand perhaps why the staunch Israel supporters say from the 60s and 70s can’t get past the past 30-49 years. Maybe even those around when Clinton was in office through 9/11. But at this point, if you’re thought process is “well I’d rather have a strong free Israel than an out of control Iran or stronger lybia or other Middle East countries” I don’t think you grasp the politics there. Most countries hate Iran, they generally just want stability and Israel has gone too far as to create instability. A swing back away from fullyhroated support is not only fine, or OK, it’s actually good. And your supporters would know it.

They’re really just terrified of the billions AIPAC and other entities will spend trying to paint the dems as anti Israel. That’s pretty much it.

And we need to admit it. They’re not fucking wrong. Swingy voters are easily manipulated by that disinformation.

  10. Democrats keep underestimating just how easily *literally anyone* who feels like being the 2028 anti-establishment presidential candidate is going to set themselves up for public attention just by uttering two magic words, “Fuck Israel”, at the first primary debates, and then laugh all the way to Super Tuesday on a wave of denunciations and constant media pearl-clutching.

  11. When someone is paid to have a certain position, don’t expect them to budge from it easily.

Trust me, they know. But it’s too big a hit to their precious pocketbooks to acknowledge.

Common Dreams starting early I see. By June we’ll be preparing to teach the Democrats a lesson!!!

  13. Considering it cost them the last Presidential election, you think they would have some idea by now.

  14. I don’t think GOP voters are to happy about them dragging us into their conflicts. I’m sure most don’t care about the apartheid thing but the having us contemplating boots on the ground in Iran while they don’t commit any ground troops is wildly unpopular across the American electorate.

  15. versusgorilla on

The GOP is going to drag the US into a war on behalf of Israel and then turn around and be the party to benefit from it because they’ll say anything and stand for nothing other than themselves and corporate profits.

It was 25 years ago in college that I received my first ‘Free Palestine’ sticker from a political info booth at a college new semester event.

I had no idea what was going on back then, but since then, it’s second nature for me to condemn the atrocities committed by Israel, with full support of the US, against Palestine.

And as soon as I caught wind of AIPAC, I made sure to avoid voting for any AIPAC sponsored candidate. This came especially useful during a local election a few years ago and the AIPAC democratic candidate actually came to my door, with some aides, to introduce himself and try to gain my support. I already knew I wasn’t voting for him and I hope the look I gave them of “This is absolute bullshit” made them realize maybe Democrat voters weren’t the same mindless drones as MAGA.

    He lost that election too.

  17. Careless-Internet-63 on

They know, but their donors are more important to them than their voters

  18. Israel’s only relevance to the US is its effect on “Holy Land” Christian voting bloc. That’s basically it.

This Christian bloc that remains large, but has both been in decline and veering right out of swing status for decades now.

As Christians decline out of swing status there’s ever less incentive to put Israel up on a pedestal like the other voter induced special relationships (Ireland/Northern Ireland for Irish Americans, Cuba bullying for Cuban Americans.)

This has played out already with say, AOC or Bernie who are so secure they have little reason bothering to court Christians. Without putting Israel on some pedestal they have thereby called Israel out under **normal western standards.**

Another example is Obama who was secure enough to rarely bother with Israeli bs. In 2014 he responded to the conflict and Israeli attempts at escalation with public criticism of Israel. With no guarantee of US “unconditional support,” aka the US diplomatic umbrella, Israel backed dowm and ended the conflict within weeks. It was in far contrast to Biden’s “unconditional support, hug Israel close” response, or Trump who actively chases this declining Christian vote.

This is a distraction wedge issue. Gaza wasn’t a top 10 ballot issue in the election. Democrats need to focus on the working class and the cost of living. Period. It’s the economy, stupid.

  20. DownwiththeACE on

They understand just fine, they just dont give a fuck. The US is a bunch of mega corps cosplaying democracy. The democrats are complicit in the mass slaughter and war mongering. The empty platitudes of their mascots (so called progressives) are meaningless noise meant to distract people from realizing the truth.

  21. Conscious-Demand-594 on

The RepubliKKKans seem to be doing just fine supporting Israel.

  22. Imo, the calculus is even more simple, and can be framed in a completely pragmatic way:

The Israeli state has repeatedly colluded with the Republican Party in order to sabotage the Democratic Party. Period. They have admitted to tanking the peace talks Biden was responsible for over and over with the express intent of making him appear weak and ineffectual as a leader on the world stage.

So it goes back to the age old question: why is the Democratic Party spending political capital propping up a heinous ethnostate that wants them to lose to the Republican Party forever more? The calculus for Republicans is easy to understand: Israel helps them achieve world political goals and the Republican constituency is full of people who have vested, theocratic reasons for wanting the Israeli state to succeed at all costs. Conversely, the Democratic Party is actively sabotaged by Israel on the world stage and their constituency is full of anti-war, anti-interventionist, anti-colonialist people with a more diverse, secular worldview.

There is no logical reason for them to support Israel, and in lieu of giving their reason, people will automatically assume grift and corruption.

  23. haranaconda on

It’s not even just Democrats. Right and Left voters under 50 despise Israel.

  24. gentlemantroglodyte on

Both party’s know. One party might be considering an exit strategy.

  26. Maybe educate US citizens about how bad Israel treats those of the chirtian faith, exact same way they treat Palestinians. Forced eviction using military, blocking them from public amenities, such as parks, schools, shopping. Publicly shaming them and attacking them. It’s pretty insane that most Americans have no idea this is happening. And the politicians in power now, know but lie and pretend it isn’t a thing at all. If you don’t practice Judiasm in Israel, you are treated like pure trash and non human

  27. And it’s high time the public gets a front row seat to how and why the DNC has behaved because of Israel and the real nemesis AIPAC

  28. deadballofdirt on

Remember, folks. The Democrat establishment would prefer another Republican term in office than go against Israel!

  29. Speaking of democrats, didjt Raphael Cruz just defend Israel on Tucker Carlson?

  30. HeretoFore200 on

The thing that drives me crazy is that Dems want to position themselves as an anti-corruption force in opposition to republicans. But how credible do voters feel that is — after the botched and missing autopsy, their AIPAC/corporate collusion, the constant attacks on progressives, the Bob Menéndezes and Eric Swallwell.

Of course they’re *better*, but being less corrupt doesn’t make you a crusader by virtue of relativity

  31. stoned_ocelot on

Turns out supporting active genocide and taking money from the state committing genocide is highly unpopular! Whoda think it.

  32. Israel is a mess. This is the sort of situation we would have sent a peacekeeping force in for in the nineties. The lack of regard for the lives of non Jews there is astonishing. They are out of control and should be stopped militarily.

  33. Then let the lose another round of elections until they get their head out of the dirt.

  34. The US government is a cuck that loves watching Israel fuck the American people

  35. Over-Heron-2654 on

Really who knew defending a country committing genocide and meddling in American politics would be unwise.

80%+ of Democrats negatively view Israel.

57% of Republicans negatively view Israel (dont know how much of that is antisemitism).
