    > The addendum, signed by Todd Blanche, the acting attorney general, says the government is “forever barred” and “precluded” from examining the tax returns of Trump, his family, company and “related companies”.

What in the actual fuck. No one named Trump or any Trump-related company can be audited for tax fraud?

If/when sanity is restored, it will take *years* to reverse this non-stop bullshit.

  2. I’ll take things that will be washed away with a pen the next time a sane person (so not a Republican) is in the white house for $20,000 (the cash clues will give due to Trumpflation)

  3. Regardless of whatever Trump’s DOJ says, he still the biggest and guiltiest criminal this nation has ever seen.

He may have dodged taxes, but he won’t escape the other surety of life.

Corruption and Fraud in plain site. yet some will still believe in that shit.

Probably worth a few hundred million given the massive thefts taking place by the Trump family.

I don’t think that agreement would stand up to future judicial inquiries. It’s Blanche auditioning for the job and no agreement can bar investigation of future crimes. Trump thinks if he just has a stack of “get out of jail free” cards, he’s golden. He’s that stupid.

  7. And how exactly do you enforce this into perpetuity without legislation? Even then?

Looking forward to seeing Trump’s previous tax returns about the beginning of February 2029

Congress cannot bind further congresses and presidents cannot bind future presidents.

Imagine how conservatives would react if it was this instead:

“The government is forever barred and precluded from examining the tax returns of Biden, his family, company and related companies. The agreement applies to anything filed before the agreement was reached.”

“The fund will be run by five people – all subject to be fired at will by Joe Biden – and does not have to make public who it awarded money to or its reason for doing so.”

“There will be no limitations on members of Antifa to seek a claim from the fund.”

Great news! He is no longer under audit so he can finally release his tax returns.

They better hire a ton of forensic accountants during the next admin

America did a catastrophically stupid thing giving these people power again.

  14. Erratic_-Prophet on

AKA there is definitely blatant crime in the trump family and business tax returns that need to be audited as soon as trump leaves office.

Just something you’d expect for a regular, non-grifter failed entrepreneur. Yup, nothing suspicious here.

Aren’t these sort of rules historically only applied to Kings, or people considered living Gods, or God’s herald on Earth? I’m quite sure this isn’t how democracy works. No kings indeed. 1776. For America’s 250th, the only acceptable birthday present is invoking the 25th.

  17. NotBestButPrettyGood on

So all you have to do is claim you’re a distant relative of Trump and you can avoid an audit!

  18. ThaPhantom07 on

So we should absolutely audit Trump and anyone associated with him. Got it.

  19. What recourse do we as Americans have? The President of the United States is being held above the law by the entire government.

  20. Sounds like Trump’s personal defense attorney overstepped his authority by giving Trump permission to cheat on his taxes with impunity.

Blanche will go to prison once we get a normal president.

  21. mypntsonfire on

Since they aren’t currently under audit, does that mean he’ll release his returns now? Cuz that was his excuse

  22. ElderSmackJack on

A totally not at all suspicious action that in no way, shape, or form implies guilt.

  23. OnwardTowardTheNorth on

Somewhere a corporate Democrat is saying “we need to move on as a country and unify” while shit like this is happening.

  24. This little nugget jumped out at me. Probably deserves its own thread but who’s actually going to do anything?

“The fund will be run by five people – all subject to be fired at will by the president – and does not have to make public who it awarded money to or its reason for doing so.”

  25. So he can refile his taxes for the past three years, say he’s made no money, and get back all the taxes he’s paid, since they can’t audit him to dispute the claim, right?

  26. hackingdreams on

Given the DOJ has ***zero*** authority to do this, it’s entirely a meaningless, non-binding bullshit statement.

If the next President doesn’t audit the Felon family so thoroughly as to account for every last penny they extorted from the US government, we’re a failed state.

  27. NotTheRightHDMIPort on

    Lol…

Another Justice Department can make this null and void. This is clear corruption.
