Dozens of protesters are facing imminent execution in Iran, The Telegraph has learnt.
The Islamic Republic has carried out an unprecedented wave of hangings in recent weeks, and 62 people arrested during January’s demonstrations are now facing the death penalty.
Tehran’s judiciary has sent at least 29 political prisoners to execution since March 18, including 15 demonstrators.
Iran typically executes drug offenders more often than political dissidents. But the figure shows a dramatic shift in execution patterns since joint US-Israeli air strikes on Feb 28 – despite Donald Trump’s warning that Tehran should not execute protesters.
“The major difference we see after the start of the war, particularly from March 18, is the large number of political prisoners being executed,” said Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, director of Norway-based Iran Human Rights Organisation.
“More than 60 per cent of all executions now are for political prisoners and espionage,” he added. “This is unprecedented in the last 19 years that we have been monitoring use of the death penalty.”
Ok. So do we want to help these protesters or not? Boots on the ground or not? Risk lives (American, EU, Whoever) or not?
You know the answer and it’s dark out there.

For those unaware of the scale: Iran executed over 2,100 people in 2025 alone, that’s roughly 80% of all recorded executions *worldwide* that year according to Amnesty International. That’s the highest number since 1981, and it’s been climbing every year. Iran Human Rights (iranhr.net) documents individual cases.

This is not a new thing, and framing it as a new thing is disingenuous journalism.
The regime has been executing people for decades. There are daily executions in occupied Iran since 1979.
Since January’s massacre they have been fast tracking civilian executions.
Iran needs national liberation. The islamic republic is an occupying terrorist junta.

This is an example of not having real “free speech” and not the whiney bullshit examples conservatives promote as free speech issues when they’re just being racist.

As an American: Articles like this remind me that the pressure on Iran is the correct move, regardless of how much shite the rest of the world gives the US because they don’t think we should be there, or because their oil is more expensive now, or because they don’t like Trump.
I don’t like Trump either, but there’s more than a few things the administration is doing for the betterment of the world. People like to dish on POTUS for the Armenia / Azerbaijan word mixup, but now we know how critical that zone is/was to Iran / Russia & that peace there was important. Just like how getting rid of the IRGC is now important.
I don’t think the mission was originally regime change, it was just to make Iran not a threat to the US for several years. Now I think more and more want the regime change & if Iran keeps doing this sort of stuff, it ***will*** happen.

It’s time to remove the Islamic Republic from power. Its war crimes, crimes against humanity, mass murder, torture and rape should no longer be tolerated by the world. The Islamic Republic is no different than ISIS.

So I noticed whenever there’s an article that has a hint of reality about Iran it gets removed within the day.
Let’s hope this stays for at least 24h.

When you say “It’s time to remove the Islamic Republic from power”, who are you suggesting does that? Are you signing up to go over there or do you just want other people to do it? Also who gets to decide who the leader should be? The CIA generally goes all-out to install a pro-American dictator, but that’s not better for the people either.
