Prison to Pardons to Payouts: Jan. 6 Rioters Are Elated at Trump’s $1.8 Billion Fund. The possibility that people who ransacked the Capitol could get money from the government they attacked is the latest head-spinning twist in President Trump’s effort to rewrite the history of Jan. 6.

Since Jan 6th 2021, we have learned that some of those insurrectionists are also pedophiles like their Daddy Trump.

  2. Just goes to show that politics is not and has not ever been an extension of the will of the American people.

This is disgusting and corrupt on a whole new level. It’s like saying if someone broke into your house, trashed it, and then got arrested, you owe them $10,000 for their inconvenience.

Anyone who allows this shit to go through deserves to be investigated and prosecutes. Anyone who thinks January 6th was a “peaceful protest” is so full of shit they eyes are brown. “Peaceful protest” doesn’t involve shattering windows, forcing occupants to flee/hide/be evacuated.

Judges across the nation need to step up and say “nope ! this is NOT going through!”

  4. He is rewarding these criminals so they will show up for him again in 2028 when he refuses to leave.

  5. I thought the GOP was against reparations. Yes, it’s called REPARATIONS.

For those asking, $1.8 billion is roughly $1 million per convicted Jan 6th rioter.

Trump is going to give $1 million of your tax dollars to convicts…

Trump is teaching America that crime does pay.

I mean, trump might just stiff them and put most of it in his pocket.

Remember, people, we have a good history for revolting for less!

“Have you been arrested by the government for smearing poo on the walls of the Capitol building in DC? You may be entitled to compensation!”

The republican party is building a new Nazi party under the republican brand.

Some lucky Proud Boys and Oath Keepers out there are going to get some fancy new additions to their arsenals courtesy of Daddy Trump. Trump’s next coup attempt just got a massive government-funded boost.

When this happens in other countries we call it “government-backed militias”.

  12. I put forward that this act, directing money to pay off criminals who engaged in violence on your behalf, is an independent felony even if you pardon them all. Accepting that pardon is legally an admission of guilt, an admission that the act occurred, and being compensated for the act invites prosecution of the payer and possibly even the payee.

But maga has said that J6 was directed by Pelosi and leftists. Why would Trump pardonand and bail those out and pay them?

  14. thispartyrules on

I’m not encouraging this, but since there’s a list of people sent to jail for their participation in J6 wouldn’t this create an opportunity for thieves and scammers since there’s a bunch of really, really gullible people who just came into like half a million each?

Incentive for Trump’s personal army to do it all again someday. Next time around we need to actually pursue treason charges and handle it accordingly

Instead of calling this a “head-spinning twist” the NYTimes should just call this what it is: blatant corruption. I don’t understand the liberal media’s commitment to euphemism. Conservatives already hate the Times. Avoiding the word corruption just normalizes this behavior. The media is complicit.

  17. The signing is clear: you can attack the democratic institutions. It becomes more and more obvious that thia administration wants to dismantle democracy and is probably funded by malicious actors.

This is never going to happen, these people will not receive any of this money.

America’s failure to properly punish traitors to their nation will never cease to surprise me. First the confederacy, now this. Anyway, I guess this is what a majority voted for. Democracy manifest

  20. LeonardSmallsJr on

The only good thing about this is that none of the insurrections will actually get any money because that would involve Trump actually paying them.

And yet, I, as a teacher who taught in the inner-cities for almost two decades, can’t get the school loan-forgiveness promised by the federal government.

  23. these people should be ostracized from society for the rest of their lives. Instead, they are elevated to the status of heroes. I hate that I hate my fellow Americans this much.
