Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov visited a safe educational space based at the Savynske Lyceum and spoke with students and teachers.

“We continue to develop a network of safe educational spaces in Kharkiv region. Our priority task is to cover as many children as possible with offline education in safe conditions. The commissioning of a modern shelter at the Savynske Lyceum has made it possible to organize a blended learning process for more than 350 students. Currently, 23 underground schools are already operating in the region. Construction of another 13 facilities is ongoing. This will make it possible to provide 100,000 of our children with safe learning conditions. I am grateful to the Government, the Office of the President, relevant ministries, and international partners for their assistance and support in the construction of protective structures,” said Oleh Syniehubov.

The shelter is designed for more than 400 people. The facility is equipped with a modern water supply, storage and drainage system, ventilation, and heating. Classrooms are fitted with modern multimedia equipment and learning materials. To ensure stable operation during prolonged power outages, the school is equipped with a 160 kW generator. The safe space was designed with accessibility principles in mind — tactile flooring, convenient handrails, Braille signage, and elevators have been installed.

“Due to the hostilities in our community, only one lyceum has survived. We pooled all our efforts, brought together the teaching staff, and now we are able to conduct education in the shelter. We have been included in an experimental project of academic lyceums. Our lyceum is one of 150 pilot schools in Ukraine. We are receiving additional equipment from the state worth 10 million hryvnias to create laboratories and classrooms. Another 2 million is allocated for establishing a ‘Defence of Ukraine’ center,” said the lyceum director Hennadii Klyuyev.

School buses have been provided to transport students and teachers from remote settlements.

I absolutely love this. Ukraine taking care of its citizens is wonderful.

Though much better than a normal school these still have a flaw twice a day those hundreds of student need to enter and exit those schools. And do so at known routine times. That’s when the more thought and care need to be taken for protection.

Just like the massice congratulations of people right before airport security checks. Psychos be psychos unfortunately.

  2. Very dystopic and Russia is to blame for this as they are conducting a terrorist war against innocents.

On the other hand I feel happy for these children to be able to learn in a safe environment.

    Slava Ukraini!

  3. This is what you get for being an independent neighbor of russia. Freaking underground schools.

So, Europe is incapable of putting the Russian money gang against the wall, but is happy enough to help finance underground schools for the Ukrainian children. How delicate of them.
