  1. Honestly about time. The US involvement in talks has been nothing but a net negative on Ukraine since the Trump administration took over.

Hopefully this means less meddling, but I somehow doubt that.

  2. So, let me get this straight, you *didn’t* end the war in 24 hours?

Edit: where’s Jack Bauer, when the world needs him?

This is a good news. Russia will have to deal directly with EU and Ukraine and nobody else and it is a bad news for Russia.

  4. Nobody took you serious anyway, it was laughable obvious that you were the mouthpiece of pootin

So they comfirm they’re on Russia’s side?(known since months ago)

  6. Good news for the rest of the world. Now the world can take a pro-ukrainian stance instead of a pro-Putin/Trump stance

  7. Good news

But why does it feel like they are scurrying away and dodging all responsibility of any damage previous “negotiations” may have caused?

Okay bye, nobody cares. It’s like a guy that is fired, saying “No I quit, therefore I went on my own terms”

  9. just like the straights with its endless cycles of close to closing the deal in a day or two but without the strong arm tactic for rare earths

  10. Worth asking what this changes in practice. The US hasn’t been the primary mediator for most of this war Turkey hosted the initial Istanbul talks in spring 2022, and has run point on grain deals and prisoner swaps. Qatar and Saudi Arabia have also facilitated exchanges. Direct US-Russia channels existed but were mostly backchannel and rarely productive after early 2022.

The phrasing here is vague. Is Rubio saying the US won’t facilitate direct Russia-Ukraine dialogue, or that Washington is pulling back from being a go-between for Kyiv with Moscow? If it’s the former, that’s been more symbolic than operational for over a year. If it’s the latter, it raises questions about how much coordination was actually happening versus what Ukraine was doing independently. Either way, this feels more like formalizing a reality than announcing a meaningful shift.

Yeah, that’s good news. All they’ve done so far was trying to pressure Ukraine into accepting pretty much every crazy demand that Russia made.

  12. Honestly, our official intermediation was just officious intermeddling. Better for all three countries involved if we just sit back at this point.

If Putin wants to talk to Zelenskyy, he knows how to reach him. This isn’t like thirty-five years ago when if I wanted to make a long-distance phone call, I had to ask my parents for permission first.

  13. Russia is allied to Iran in the Gulf and provides intel, drone knowledge etc. About time the US government realizes who is friend and who is foe..

I just saw a video on Al Jazeera of US military personnel shaking hands with Belarussia military and words to the effect that the US is somehow participating joint Russia-Belarus war games. Can anyone provide a benign reason for that? The timing of Rubio’s statement, Russia moving more tactical nukes to Belarus, and US military moves in Poland, et al, seem quite ominous to me.

I thought the orange clown was mates with the kremlin gremlin and could stop it in 24 hours

  16. Translation: We can’t get Zelenskyy to cede land to Russia and we’re out of ideas

  17. Good they were never intermediaries they were on Russia’s side from the start!

So much for Russia’s silly diplomatic plans for them to sign a deal with the US over Ukraine (with the idea that Ukraine will sign a deal with the US).

The clown show is out. Donald “I will stop the war in 24 hours” Trump is a moronic stain on the human race.

  20. USA has completely failed in this task. Making unrealistic demands on Ukraine and only seemingly having Russias best interests.

You cannot send a couple of real estate investor to carry out serious diplomatic work, when millions of lives are on the line and expect a successful result.

  21. Low_Technician7346 on

Ok fuck off piece of shit. We’ll see the US again after Nuremberg 2.0

  22. Translation:

*Get in losers, we are going to hell.*

The dickheads in the Trump admin mediated in bad faith on behalf of bad actor Russia and tried to bully Ukraine into submission, so it’s no surprise they should be so ineffective with their simp to strong arm diplomacy.

Ukraine deserves better and doesn’t need the U.S. taking a dump on its sovereignty on top of Russia’s criminal ambitions.
