An utter, abject failure of the Liberal Party to properly represent the interests of middle Australia for more than 50 years. People may point to the Howard years but Howard never ‘represented’ the middle. He exploited them for electoral success, exemplified by his ruthless treatment of Pauline Hanson, using her then throwing her to the wolves in a typically disgusting powerplay. Ultimately leading to a devastating defeat for both himself and the Liberals. His Party never learned the lesson and now they are done. And now we are here.

More a failure of the Liberals than anything. They abandoned the centre to the teals and now have to keep going further right to appease their new base and their coalition partners.
