And still every year since I was a kid folk insist on using Dover at May HT rather than the multitude of other channel ports with no queues.

  2. It’s not just Dover; the new procedures are hell everywhere entering EU & associated countries.

We arrived in Norway recently on a standard 200-person tourist flight & waited 3 hours for 3 immigration officials to process it.

The new discussion you have to have, the manual entry of some data beyond scanning the passport, fingerprinting, and the very slow cumbersome photography process that sometimes took 3-4 attempts before the image was actually captured.

The new system is not fit-for-purpose, which should be getting people through the process to their destinations efficiently. Otherwise it will just discourage tourism, which often said to about 25% of the EU’s service-sector economic activity overall.

People ought to stay in the UK or go elsewhere this summer to avoid all this incompetence.

As the UK was never part of the Schengen Treaty, would this EES scheme have applied to UK citizens had Brexit not occurred?
