If Ukraine can cut off Crimea from Russia this year, which doesn’t really seem impossible, the Kremlin and Putin will be under all kinds of pressure. For one thing it forces them to consider the possibility of the forces they have there being cut off and driven into the sea. For domestic politics it would be complete disaster.
Especially as one of Ukraines obvious options then is to pound the air defences into dust and create both an effective blockade around it and turn it into a kill zone for the troops still stuck there. I’d think that with the drone numbers that would involve that the garrison would collapse pretty quickly, certainly months not years.
