Kinetic or without warheads – are they merely a show of force, or are we seeing something more than that?

Using Oreshnik’s to deliver a traditional/dummy payloads is such a waste of money and resources. Putin is just flexing his wonder weapon, trying to take the focus off Ukraine’s successful long range deep strikes in Russia. Time is running out for old man in the Kremlin.

How is this a show of force when he already showed off these missiles as a show of force last time? Obviously it isnt scaring anyone besides utilizing what munitions they have left

I hope we never have to find out, but i am very curious as to how a strike like this would look if it did have its intended nuclear payload and if they have different methods of scattering the warheads. All I have to go off of is the single massive blast tests from the 1900s. Assuming they didnt go off till hitting the ground as it seems, wouldn’t it just sent a ton of nuclear fallout back at russia and wouldn’t the blasts just overlap and be a bit of a waste?
Note: Im not very knowledgeable about this and im not sure where to look beyond whats from the cold war.
