These suggestions dont actually change the fact doing anything in aus is way too expensive. In fact, the additional layers of legislated reporting would make projects more expensive and timely.
Not to say the idea of having more accurate outlays is inherently bad, but we need to look at it from the other end imo, which is what can we do to stop us spending several x more on projects compared to other countries.

Here we go again, more conservative drivel along the lines of, “I’m not paying for it as I’m not using it” but “I refuse to have any road that I use, have toll’s added to it.”. True Conservatives are religious Conservatives like Reagan and Scottish prodie’s. These current “Conservatives” in the LNP and ON are actually so far to the left where all they think about is me me me me me and how quickly can I fill my boots and bugger ethics and anybody else.

Why even bother mentioning the SRL in this? It was back of an envelope electioneering and nothing more. It’s original ‘cost’ should have never been treated as anything more than just a wild guess.
The Comm Games in Vic was another example. Whilst not infrastructure it jumped from $3bill or so to $7bill. Mind you, no-one ever had to explain the upgraded costs and why it had doubled in a couple of years. Everyone just said ‘Well done Dan’ and moved on.
So the TL:DR for this is easy. Shit Governments and militant unions whose productivity is in the toilet mean every dollar price we initially give a project is just a wild fucking guess.

Can’t take anyone who quotes the PBO estimate for the SRL seriously. Such a basic error is automatically disqualifying.
