They voted for Trump and now Leopard has eaten their faces. That should be the headline

Wasn’t barbecue a way of making cheaper / less quality cuts of meat more tender and palatable?

And they’ve been priced out of that. Yikes.

eta: (who would down vote this?)

I just told my wife last night, “you know, I don’t think we’ll ever have steak again.”

This old Texan misses beef 🙁

This would not have happened if they had served Trump steaks (i.e. horsemeat)

  5. Hope they appreciate getting exactly what they voted for in the unemployment/food bank lines

Meat is for millionaires. The rest of you can have whatever you may scrounge up. Single digit millionaires may also lose meat privileges with inflation. Enjoy our overlords’ new robot armies.

  7. Good. Fuck em. They voted for the destruction of our society, they can burn first

A lot of this was already brewing, but federal policy is making it noticeably worse. The US cattle supply has been shrinking for years due to drought and land loss in Texas, so supply was already tight before any of this. But tariffs on beef imports made it more expensive to fill that gap from other countries, and when the White House briefly considered lowering them to help consumers, they backed off after rancher lobbyists pushed back.

The immigration crackdown also tightened up the meatpacking labor pool, which is an industry that runs heavily on immigrant workers, pushing processing costs up.

And the Iran situation driving fuel above $4 a gallon ripples through every step of getting beef from a ranch to your plate. The underlying problem was already there but current federal policy has basically blocked every exit ramp that could have softened the blow for regular people at the grocery store

  9. when will people realize that republicans ALWAYS destroy the economy. Its crazy how fast republicans have ruined the economies around the world in just one year and half

Gonna get worse. Climate change is driving aridification that is drying up grazing land. It’s reducing the number of irrigated acres of farmland which drives up feed prices. High costs of fuel and fertilizer through the straight of Hormuz also drive costs up.

You can draw a straight line from Republican policies to all of these outcomes. They’re against solar and wind energy. They’re against carbon regulations. They’re against fuel efficient vehicles. They’re for the war in Iran.

You would think with all those cows it’d be cheaper.

Same here in Oklahoma. Beef is $$$. We quit eating it. I’m not paying $8lb for hamburger. That’s 2 gallons of gas here w my AAA discount!

Good, fuck Texas. They’re the only state in the union that fought for slavery twice.

  13. It’s great being in that one generation that read dystopian science fiction as a kid, then lived to see it come true. Peasants don’t eat real meat. They can barely afford the green Soylent….

  14. I believe congratulations are in order! I wonder how they are giving thanks to their president for delivering unto them such prosperity! Vote MAGA so your business can also get on the Trump train!

  15. My local grocery store had their Memorial day strips on sale for 12.99 lb. Sorriest looking meat you ever saw. Looked like liver.

Why don’t these restauranteurs just move their operations to Argentina and survive off the $40 billion in US subsidies there?

  17. NoCoffee6754 on

But I thought it was Biden that was trying to outlaw hamburgers (or whatever Fox News was on about a few years ago)

  18. thekillinggame1976 on

The Texas Restaurant Association backs republicans. So , fuck em right in the ass .

How’s that whole “Voting Republican thing” working out for you, huh Texas?

    * Trump imposes tariffs and increases foreign beef imports
    * GOP spent decades claiming “climate change is a hoax”
    * Trump heavily cracked down on immigrant workers many ranches and farms rely on

But sure Republican voters, keep offering up your face to that GOP Leopard each election season.

  20. Haha. Voting does have consequences. Wait til MAGA is drafted into the war with Iran and soon Cuba. Those cowards with head north to Canada.

Texan here, BBQ use to be a decently priced meal growing up, now it’s fucking expensive like it’s caviar or something.

I say fuck the Texas cattle industry colluding to bring beef prices up.
